What the heck, I have an auto and even though I did not read each post of the four pages I will toss in a comment. Manual or Auto both reside in the same body. Think of it as a hot babe (or guy if your a girl I guess) that you see at a party. Good looking, nice curves. So far as what is inside goes (stick/auto), just different favors of the same ride. Sort of like making love...be on top or bottom. Same act but different feeling.

Just be happy with what you got and more important ride it. I have started to appreciate my auto more with it's ability to go from manual shift to automatic shifting but that is just what I like (go back and read that sentence again). It is what I like, not you, tom, mary....

Might a manual provide more driver 'feel' of the process of changing gears? Sure, of course, so what....if I wanted to trade the auto/manual feature of an auto for that feeling great. I did not. Do I miss a manual at times? Probably every time I drive my rx8. Would I give up my auto for it, even though I have less hp and lower rpm top range? No.

Life is full of choices and no matter which you make there are trade offs. If your happy with the choice be happy.

I leave it for others to sort out the deeper means in live. Me, I like, more then I should, how my rx8 looks. It gets a score of 9 out of 10 on the curves factor in my book. More hp, better mpg....maybe next gen.

Sure hope you are not disappointed with the MT. The 8 is not a quick car when stock in ether configuration. Your mods did not give you much for added performance or HP.

Correct. It's a brand name of a manufacturer of nitrous kits.
I use the ZEX kit my self. Much better set up for the RX8.

Tested and proven.

i wasn't bashing AT or screaming AT FTW.

was saying my friend had an auto, i thought that was plenty fast.
if you aren't too into cars (car savy, guy that does his own oil type of guy), then the auto will more than enough for you. some people just like the looks of sports car, some like the power of it, some like both.

he should drive both manual and automatic, and weigh in other factors, traffic, mpg (autos get better mpg), and most important PREFERENCE. then pick. just saying, don't throw away auto as an option, give it a chance. don't want you getting a manual and regretting it seeing as you don't drive hard every day.

I've seen no difference in mpg between the AT8 and MT8.. That is if your not redlining the 8 much on the MT. Same can go for the AT driving in "MT mode"

Easy,

Hadn't heard about your 9000 rpm redline. How did you deal with the inability to shift over a certain rpm? How many miles you been running with that redline?

What inability to shift? Sometimes 2nd to 3rd spins up between actual shift. But 9 out of 10 times, not.
I was on the track doing over 90+ in second down the straight away and all the shifts to 3rd worked flawlessly.
I've had it raised about a year now.
