since we're comparing costs, our MTs (both new and used) cost more than the AT so doesn't it wash out? if you go SC then it is more expensive that route but you can spray for less than getting a SC as Easy does.
and in full disclosure, i am a die hard MT fan and wouldn't buy an AT 8 (although other cars might be different) but over the years and seeing the work put into them, i can respect the decisions that others have made and don't see the need to bash them.

also, NOS is again probly not a good idea for maintaining prolonged engine health, and even that still costs typically over 500, and must be refilled of course when it runs out. so that plus all the other mods still would be "several grand" I enjoy having an NA motor with no mods that easily puts out this kind of power.
once again I appear to be high on logic plant.

i'm not saying i would choose that route but be careful of the plants you think you're smoking. you don't know if the neighbor's dog decided to mark it and that's why you're flying so high right now.

$3,000 worth of mods to an AT gets you to a pretty good place with exhaust, MM tuned AP, and Zex and now you have a very similar HP scenario to a stock MT with some money to refill that bottle but also something you have put your hard work into and have a more personalized car.

when did i say my stock mt would whip phil every time? and about the lower cost of the AT........since cars are bought AND sold, the cost doesn't really help because the resale for the AT is also lower, so it ends up not being less expensive actually. Generally, people are not attracted to automatic 8's for obvious reasons, so you get less back when you sell it.

just be careful with those prejudices - one day you might just wake up and realize that you only know less than 1/10th of what you think you know. if not, you can keep being delusional and it doesn't bother me. just try to be more respectful of those who are different than you. we're all a rotary community and just looking to find ways to better our cars and in then end that's all they are - cars.

Oh really!!! I guess I missed that statement where his n/a mt will whip me every time. He is welcome to come to Vegas and try. I really don't care why anyone would consider MT as the only way but at least understand that there are those of us that made a choice and prefer the AT.

Ok, if, for example, I add up the cost of the mods listed for an auto such as Phil's, I notice the AP, which is about 700 dollars, i notice the pettit supercharger which, according to pettit's website, their latest version is 6 grand, i notice a CAI, and several esxhaust mods as well. This all I would imagine adds up to at least 8 grand in order to get 184 whp like phil claims. My car is stock mt and for all i know probly has similar power, possibly more, and because it is NA, has less stress being put on it. Even if Phil's supercharger didn't cost 6 grand, it at least costs over a grand, so still adding all this up would be "several grand"
So I guess to answer your question: I am smoking logic plant.

This thread got crazy out of hand. OP was scared off I think. Auto is Auto. MT is MT. Make the best out of whatever you have and be happy with it. Don't worry about what the other guy has.

Well, according to you, your latest dyno showed about 183-184 whp.......so considering plenty of stock mt's get mid 180's I wouldn't say it's 1 in a million....
as in dumb and dumber: "so what was all that one in a million talk!!!?"

AT can be faster than MT with some mods. Think about it, you can never "miss" shift in an AT, there is almost NO driver error. MT on the other hand, a shitty driver means the car will drive shitty.
With the 9k RPM reflash and some bolt ons, I'd argue in favor of the AT being faster in a straight line. Handling wise, both are the same.
ps
Crack in my grape drink.

I have an,,
AEM CAI,
ZEX nitrous sytem w/ BHR throttle body spacer, 75 shot/wet.
SR Motorsports mide pipe.
Mazdaspeed dual can Catback exhaust.
BHR Yukon coil kit.
And an Accessport with months of tuning by Mazdamaniac. Redline 9000 rpm.
Mazmart water pump/thermostat (170degree)
Dyno'd at 183.2 WHP. I believe it has more now. Additional tuning has been done. And I have a few more tricks up my sleeve.
200+ WHP is near.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HahA damnit I guess Easy said that. I guess I tend to group AT owners into a general sub human category, forgive me for the confusion. But anyway...if you haven't dyno'd your car since it was stock then how do you know it has more power than mine...?

RenesisGenesis, Stop Posting, you are making a fool of yourself... (giving you a hint)
When I see an Auto rx-8, I say why? But then at the sametime I say whoever has that A/T Rx-8 will have some pretty big *****. Because, 1. It's an Auto Sports Car. 2. You will get bashed 3. You aren't afraid of much.
I should really try the A/T version one day, haven't gotten a chance to drive it yet.

Simple, He has more torque than your car and it's better looking.
