btw thats for a healthy automatic. I'd go for a 2006+ with a 6 speed if you have to go auto.

Which year model? You don't want the earlier 4-port autos.

My 4-port did 0-60 in 8 seconds easily at sea level. At this elevation where I live which is 6000-7000 feet I get 9-10 seconds to 60.

Damn, then both of you have a really healthy AT rx-8. Most I've seen does a 0-60 of like 9-10 seconds, which is painfully slow.

why buy a sports car with A/T? theres no point. the car weighs more you lose HP and it just goes to show you cant drive a car to save your life. M/T or its just a waste of money and gas to buy an A/T.

maybe he only has one leg j/k When the RX-8 first came out I was considering the auto....something about the paddle shifters, but after I saw how abysmal the numbers were on the autos...and the difference in engines, I decided on the manual.....and I AM SOOOO GLAD I DID. I tested an auto, but the manual is so much more engaging...almost like it has a different feel or something???

to compare, i ran a 14.4 stock.

1.6 seconds of difference is huge in the quarter mile. what i would give to knock 1.6 seconds off my current time. but i could only do that with either a huge nitrous shot, esmeril turbo, or stage 3 pettit supercharger.

unless you have to buy an auto, disability or such, get a manual. i bought my car with only a few lessons driving stick. the person i bought it from, had her husband drive it to my house, and then... i started learning.

if you do have to get an auto. get an 06 or higher. they have a 6 speed manual gearbox. much better. they also have the 6 port engine, which has more horsepower.

16 flat, stock AT? HOW!? I have a straight pipe, K&N filter, and took out some of the interior and my FASTEST time was a 16.6 @ 85!

go with a full tank of gas, it will help you launch better.

just try it out, anyway.

i think an 85 trap should be good for a 16 flat. i think i've trapped 87 when i've missed a shift, somewhere around 15.5 seconds.

If youre going to buy an AT get a 06+.

People buy cars to fufill diffrent requirements/wants.

To anwser the OP question. I ran 7.9 - 8.2 0-60 times. (DSC off)
The stock AT on a DynoPack dyno reads around 137-145 WHP. a MT will read avg. 178-185 WHP.

Stock AT time I have seen posted by diffrent people here range from 8 - 12 sec for 0-60
MT's 6- 10 sec 0-60.
