Auto RX8 Vs. Manual RX8
#27
Some of which is subjective, but the fact is, the MT is faster, has more hp, and more mods are geared towards it. Thus the only answer for this is MT, even if you LIKE the AT more.
Anyone who voted for AT either didn't read the poll before voting, or is deluded.

AT or Manual the RX-8 is a great looking and handling Automobile.
Not everyone who buys a sports car is looking for speed performance.
I like the fact my RX8 manual is fast but in reality driving the car everyday I seldom need to go 0-60 in a shorter time and for many the AT might be the right choice.

Anyone who goes on this thread and has an auto will biasly pick the auto, or people will pick it as a joke. That's how all car forums are. Definitely a stupid thread, considering one car has a big power advantage, not as much so in the newer autos, but still there.
I see it all the time in the S2K forum, someone makes a poll and asks which is better the AP1 S2000 (2000-2003) or the AP2 S2000 (2004-present), and those who have the older cars think there's is better. The flame fest goes on with the same car.
It's a good thing this site isn't a 50-50 mix of auto or manual owners, or flames would be flying all around here.
Anyway, this was a pretty ridiculous thread. The manual is an enthusiast car, the auto is for those who want it for the great looks and refinement. They definitely should not have made it in auto, but they were trying to make this a car general consumers would by, not just enthusiasts. It didn't work Mazda.

I test drove stock auto RX8, it was slower than a V6 accord auto my bro has. Way too slow. Manual destroys auto in every way stock vs. stock. Low torqued cars need to be revved high to use as much of that torque as possible, and you really cannot launch an auto car that well.

Not really a contest unless you just don't like shifting the gears yourself. The A.T. is not like a VW DSG or EvoX "auto" that is awesome. It is an old fashioned slush box that happens to have paddle shifters on the steering wheel.
If you need an auto or like it better. Get it.

shinka is heavier but has a few little nice refinements you don't get otherwise....plus that cool little shinka sticker, but it has the same torque, red line, HP, body. little nicer suspension, but heavier too. all in all, the shinka will be slower in a straight line but with the better suspension will be just as fast, if not a little faster in the corners(driver dependent of course)
