went to my local dealer, said that the cars won't get there til mid or end of july. if the cars are already loaded off the dock, does it really take half a month for them to be delivered to the dealers?

oh and they finally had some brochures. jeez. they're pretty sweet though.

Where are you in the world so we know how far the cars have to be moved?

You guys are crazy if you think that your cars move as soon as they are unloaded off the boat. If it comes to dock on a sunday, I don't think doing the math by saying it would only take a day to drive to my dealer is correct. There are certain channels things have to go to.
I wouldn't be at all surprised if the 1st allocation came in mid-to-end July.

mid-july is because factory doesnt want to commit to a june delivery. my understanding that we should get our cars wed or thurs. (im in cerritos,ca). but again it is not confirmed, they only thing they will commit to is july. so it may be the following week. and the cars are not shipped from port to dealer immediately. the port has items that they have to do to the vehicles first. they have to progrm the pcm for the area the car is being delevered from this on every car, they have to make sure there is no damage from shipping across the ocean, and also those of us that ordered accessories already have parts being put on i the port also, so there is alot that goes on before the car reaches the dealer, then the dealer has to do the pre-delivery check and detail before the car is released do they probably wont call you until after all that is done, but watch the board as i will post as soon as the truck gets here, so everybody can call their dealer.

I don't know about other states but in PA the policy on damage during transit is that if it is less then 10% of the cars MSRP they simply fix it and do not disclose it to the customer. If it is over 10% they have to disclose it to the customer.

more what ifs, but, what if, say your spoiler is scratched? And you want it to be fixed, but it's trivial to the dealer & he says "ok, you want out? I'll mark it up and sell it, but i'm not fixing it." Is there any protection for us for these types of problems or are we screwed? I probably wouldn't refuse the car after waiting this long (& he knows it), but I would want any problems like this fixed.
Another common issue that bugs the crap out of me is mileage...under 5 miles for a new preordered car is acceptable, but my wife's eclipse had around 110miles, which bothered me.

How will you guys handle these issues? Granted, someone reading this will have delivery issues to deal with, I'm sure.

I would think the acceptable mileage is less than 10 miles. My 1985 RX-7 had 9 miles when I drove it away. 110 miles would be a dealer demo in my opinion and the price should reflect it. How 'bout it fubar and budman? When does a car have too many miles to be 'new'?

My advice for anyone buying any car is take a camera with you when you go for the car. Go over it with a fine tooth comb and photograph/point out anything that you think is an issue then go to the sales manager. If he trys to be a jerk about it call Mazda USA. The worst thing a dealership can have is a customer bugging the crap out of the regional managers. When I worked for the VW/Audi/Porsche dealer I saw VW buy back 2 cars because the seats got too much lint on them. Basically the owners just yelled loud enough and long enough to the right people and got it fixed.

As far as milage goes, expect 20 or less. They do have to move the cars quite a bit depending on where they are shipped to, etc but it should never be more then 20. If it is they used it for test drives. Also factor into that number the fact the car has to be driven by the service tech when doing the pre-delivery inspection.

Here is the basic pricipal to have when dealing with a car dealership. They lack moral fiber and will take advantage of you given the chance. I know some great people that work at dealerships, but in the end this is true of every dealership I have dealt with. Be dilligent, intelligent and resourceful and the dealership will not get you badly, also always be willing to yell to the manufacturers district reps.

If that is true of the LA area, where does that leave you RotorMotor, being farther down than LA in San Diego? :p

The last new car I bought was driven in from another dealer over a 2 hours drive away, but I was told about it ahead of time and asked if it was okay with me.

with all this complaining it sounds like they should just move to a new state like in mid east or mid west where the cities are better. like Kentucky or one of the dakotas or something! :D

o yeah, back to the topic...
just an update:
Stopped by my dealer today & same tune..mid july, but I am not on the water yet. Huh? "We're only three weeks away", i said...then the phone rang & I had to leave to get back to work. I don't see how it's going to be on the water, in port, & to the dealer in three weeks......I'd be happy with the end of july though...
