Argh.
I scraped the underside of the front end of my 8 tonight pulling out of a parking spot.
Going in, I apparently pulled in too close, over a concrete bumper that was awfully high. No sound on the way in.
On the way out, awful scraping sound.
Like nails on a chalkboard, my friends.

Was it just the black plastic tray that you scraped? Could'be been the rock guards as well...
xrider is right,... this car is lower than most, so it's well advised to try to not pull in as far as you're used to. i certainly keeping having to tell myself that (no scrapes yet... knock on wood)

Yes, I think it was the black plastic part.
I didn't look, to be honest, because I was a) disgusted and b) telling myself that looking won't make it better.
I'll take at a look at it tomorrow in the daylight.
No more close encounters for me. Between the door dings, high curbs and road debris, I'm wondering if they make a force field for my 8.

i've learned how to park away from the curb.....too many incidents in my old truck (s-10 Xtreme) to mess up my 8.
by looking at your car, you can at least determine where you scraped, and if it involved paint, you can tell if it can be waxed/buffed off. if you're lucky, you only scraped the bottom lip of the car and it's nothing that will show

I've accepted it as a fact of life that the car with the appearance kit front lip will nail anything above 6 inches. I plow snow with it every wintertime on the roads; I should be put on commission from the State of Michigan for services rendered.

How do you think I feel? My car is dropped 1.5" on AutoEXE springs and I have the MS nose.
I can barely get my shoe under the front lip.
Add to that I can't seem to tell where the front or back of this car is.
After two years, when I think I am right on top of something, I am still 2 feet away. I guess that is good, though...

hahaha it's funny how you call it a chin. anyway, i've scraped mine pretty bad that my undercover started hanging loose and got damaged due to dragging on the ground, so i had to replace it. after that, i try my best not to get too close to the curb or those concrete bumper things. just the other day, i noticed my front undercover was loose again and it's starting to hang slightly because the fasteners were missing, and it doesn't help when you're on the freeway with the wind pushing it down causing it to scrape on the ground. the fasteners used for securing the undercover are cheap and weak.. i'm missing like 4 in the front. what sucks is i don't remember when i scraped anything since i'm so careful these days. i guess parking backwards is a better bet. i don't even have the appearance package front lip spoiler and this happens.

Unfortunately, I had a valet recent ding up the bottom edge of my "aero package" splitter on the nose of my yellow beast. Gotta get that refinished.
