Anyone having this sound?

Hi guys, I just got a brand new RX8. My engine sounds like a bit strange to me. It seems with some high pitch squeal noise. (quite the same in the vedio below).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w4sf55Qde8U

Is this engine sounds normal? or everyone is having completely different engine sound?

That, bud, is the sound of pure awesomeness coming from the rotary engine.

thanks for your replies. I am really new to the rotary engine. when driving at lower RPM 2k-3k, I can hear only that high pitch whine quite loudly. You guys think it's normal too ?

Probably so, if you're new to rotaries then the engine is just going to sound weird to you. You'll get used to it, and learn to love it.

Besides, your car is brand new, and it has an 8 year 100k mile warranty on it. Don't sweat it. Just be sure to stay on top of maintenance.

When i push the car into high RPMs (8-9k) it sounds like metal is scraping or something i wonder if that is normal.

It would have sounded even more awesome had you gotten a manual instead of an auto.

Thanks all for your replies. I am from Hong Kong and there is not many ppl driving a RX8 around here.

That youtube is not from my car. It just a clip with similar sound I could found. Mine is a 09 mannual.

To zoom44, I dont think it's about winter since it is still 20C(68F) here. However, I do noticed at cold start and low RPM the high-pitch sound is louder. do you think it's something with airpump?

Thanks all again.
