any REAL performance gain from a mazdaspeed intake?

Hey all, my new 8 is coming with a mazdaspeed cold air in take. I'm wondering what the *actual* performance gains from this would be (if any)?

the stock intake is already sufficient, all you can add to that is an air duct and a high performance filter to increase the air flow.

Part of a larger package. It gives you some hp at the top end (about 6-8 hp). Not real substantial, but if you are looking for more NA hp gains, this is as good a place to start as any.

The Racing Beat intake and CAI duct is better.

no huge performance gains, probably just a few hp here and there. The true advantage is introducing COLDER air into the engine.

there's not much difference among intakes, but can't go wrong with MS. they will all do something, but you won't notice.

It's more then just shiny, but don't expect much in noticeable power differences. Here is the link to my detailed review of the MazdaSpeed Cold Air Intake which will give you an idea of what to expect:

Hey bvisser, not sure what the '8 is like without the cold air intake since mine came with it, (jst got mine last week), but from what sum peeps I know have said, (they've been in sum '8's that were just stock), they do feel that it makes a bit of difference after being in mine.

Isn't that the point of the mazdaspeed intake? Remove the restrictive cover and use an open cone filter instead of the panel?

Not arguing that an air filter alone won't do much for performance...
