Not to be Ike like...LOL, but have you guys heard of the Mazdaspeed Mazda6? It's a turbo 2.3L AWD 270HP with 280lb torque. Am I the only one who has heard of it? I was very interested considering we bought my wife a Mazda6 and I really like the car but then heard it was a Turbo 4 and was disapointed a bit.
It still should be a HELL of a sports sadan!!!
But, I love the 8...so I suggest the 8, what else is there that can compare? Sti & Evo, but not as nice looking as the 8.

I don't think the Mazdaspeed 6 is really going after the STI and Evo, I see it as more going after the Subaru Legacy GT or similar full 4 door cars with a bit more power. I don't really see it as becoming a boy racers wet dream.

I've had a total of 5 different Miatas and still have two, a Spec Miata project car and a 91 STS2 autocross/canyon car. Neither is my daily driver. I just bought my RX8 6sp sport last week. I absolutely love it. I went with the Porshe Club on a run up Ortega Highway and easily stayed with the modified 911's.
Why buy used? I picked up a brand new 2004 6sp w/sport for $23100 before taxes. They are making killer deals right now on 2004's. Good luck.

Well, I read most of the replies and would simply echo what many said...keep the Miata (I did) and get an 8 when you can swing it. I toyed with a number of others, 350z, STi, Evo, Z4 (still a roadster), etc. and came back to the 8. It really is a great value in my book. The interior is far better than almost anything at a comparable price. It is a sports car, but has considerable utility. It handles great and in the hands of an experienced driver will out run many others. Check out the Grand Am ST results for the year...the overall winner, the Speedsource RX-8...not BMW, not Acura, etc., the RX-8 in its first year out!

Yeah, I bought the RX-8 last October right after I sold the MX-3 to a guy up in Canada who was a fan of what I had done to it.
I kept the Miata - it is mostly my track ***** and "beater", though it is in great shape.
I don't drive it all that much, though. The '8 is just too good.:p

The only negative "yah buts..." I have are mileage and off the line acceleration. On the other hand, I have "yah, but it has great..." handling, family practicality (2 kids, 4 & 8), and rolling acceleration (that 50-80 range is a scream). Oh, and it looks so good...stand in front of it and think good hips!

I sold the PGT-T a year ago this month - Last I heard it's still very consistantly 240whp/250lb-ft..T3super60 @ ~8psi. Glad to have the 'project' gone, frankly.
As-is, on dry days, to satisfy my 'speed' fix, I've got a 2004 Ninja ZX6R 636cc...I think that may be what's stolen my motivation for the miata. Last two summers, instead of Miata drives, I'd go on group-rides thru the twisties. Two summers of using my sunny days for riding instead of driving took it's toll, I suppose. Last summer was my first on the 'new' bike, but it didn't pass w/o drama. I wrecked pretty good in September in fact, even have the drop on video! :D No major injuries; although I still have a place on my leg where I have no feeling. The bike was nearly totaled; but was fixed and returned after a few weeks in the shop.
Anywho..
back to RX8's. Do you ever miss the power of your Mx3? I know when testing cars now, I tend to compare their accelleration w/ my Probe, and their handling w/ my Miata.
