Another Winter Thread, It just snowed here

Hey guys, Still lovin this community!

So I live in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. Here, we set records with our weather, extreme snow and cold.

I have brand new Bridgestone Potenza winter tires on right now and so far they are O.K. Last night was the first time the sky took a dump on my car (only 4 inches) and it was hell to drive in, about 14 km/h the whole way to get cake (mmm cake)

But this morning when I went to work, the snow has been compacted and all was well, I was passing some trucks even. My biggest fear right now is obviously an accident, if I make it through this winter, I think I'll be set for life haha.

I also do not have a garage...Does anyone else here not have a garage for their 8 as well? If so, do you do anything about it? Outdoor cover? I was think about a temp garage for my driveway but their a little pricy as well as I unsure if they could hold the weight of snow.

Thoughts and opinions wanted.

Haha...you said Regina...

Seriously, you are very brave to drive a sports car in winter in Saskatchewan. I garage mine in winter and won't drive on the open road again until March. Good luck.

Haha, I don't think brave is the right word, it's more a necessity. I'm sure as long as I be careful, never cold stop it, and just overall maintain it, it should be fine.

It would really help me out if other people are going to be driving their 8 in the winter as well, then I wont feel like an idiot.

Cool. Another close 8 owner! You know what I'm talkin about =)

So I just got back from filling up on gas, It drives better when heavier (obviously) but now I'm debating putting sand bags in the trunk...

winter tires are a lot of fun.

i put mine on when temperatures start going into the low 30s consistently. the sad thing is that winters here will spontaneously go to 70 degrees in the middle of winter and then they get really greasy and wear very very fast.

Im sort of close to you no garage, as well and driving all winter as well. I too looked at the canvas garage's that you can buy, and it just looks to hickish to me and im afraid it would blow away or collapse with snow, so for now i just let it idle for like 10-15 mins until its nice and toasty before i go anywhere.

- got blizzaks for the tires

Well make sure you have the strongest battery you can get in your car especially if you don't have a garage. I think the two highest CCA batteries I have seen in Group 35 is 720 for Optima Red Top and 740 for Sears Diehard Platinum. Also you might invest in a engine block heater.

All you need is a good battery, the updated starter, and snow tires. Do not worry about getting a temp garage. Ever since i got my 8 back in 2003 it has never seen a garage, its outside all the time and no problems.

new jersey gets cold. but canada is gets colder.

people that live in colder conditions tend to get block heaters. i think thats a good idea.

if i could get a garage, any type of garage, canvas included. i would. you can work on your car in the winter and protect your car from random falling debris. my car is to low (stock) to get into my very steep driveway.
