Another One Bites The Dust
Well, went to fire it up today....just turned over, but wouldnt start. Didnt turn on & then off or anything of that nature. Attempted the "de-flood" procedure...no luck. I made sure my dealer did the MFLASH before I signed the paperwork )which was a whopping 3 weeks ago
)...so now I am driving a Nissan Sentra. Man this flooding thing sucks...especially with winter coming. Im even afraid to take friends on trips in it, especially long ones, because Im never sure my damn car will start. 3 weeks & I already had the potential to be stranded. Should I expect this often? Thank god it happened in my driveway...I mean, what if I was down in Detroit, and it was too late to get an open dealer or a loaner. Grrrrrr... sorry, just venting.

They all rev to 2500 and back down to 1500 when you first start them- mine's done that since the day I bought it last August, when there was no mflash. Perhaps it somehow slipped through the M-Flash cracks, or it's something else, like coils.....
People always talk about "winter" does this really make a diff. in flooding?
Seems like it doesn't matter some people have it happen in the dead heat of summer and others in the winter, am I right?

Not sure if BAM's car is M-flashed but only have read 2 other cases where people's M-flashed 8's have flooded.

Sorry for your misfortune, don't know what to tell you. I would be squeamish too if it happened to me. All I can say is that I've been driving mine sine July 31, 2003, and have had ZERO flood issues nor does it cross my mind (anymore).

huh the silver one is cursed...hmmmm funny my car didn't tell me that adn we've put 24k on her already..oh well. Hahaha least she is still all good. (hmm except for that stupid lill evac problem..but that was due to teh dealer messing up)
As the victim of 2 floods over the past 13 months, I know how it feels. So far, since the M flash and warmer weather, no problems. Now that it is getting cold again, we'll see what happens. Flooding doesn't seem to happen often, but when it does, it can be very inconvenient. The starting procedure works, but I drained the battery in my attempts to start the car. If I wasn't home, that would have neccesitated a tow.
I had one flood pre-M-Flash, but got the car started with the starting procedure after letting it sit for an hour without attempting a start. Then promptly took it to the dealer where I got it flashed. No problems since - starts first time, every time, after about 3 seconds of cranking.
Maybe it's the luck of the Yellow. God smiles on Yellow RX-8s ... they are the color of sunshine!
Ok, that was lame ...

Gordon, just a quick question for ya... do you usually park your car outside during work or home, while it's -15 to -25 for at least 8 hours a day? (and I assume you don't have a block heater of any type)
