I do that too. But, I also get the same feeling when I see another Rx-8. I think to myself, "Do I look that cool...I do...I do look that cool! Sweeeeet!"

No you aren't the only one, i purposely sometimes go around store windows when i'm leaving so that i can see the reflection of the car rolling. Also, i want to see how i look in the car haha. I've also let freinds drive it in the parking lot so i can see it in motion, stunning i have to say esp at night. Rotary def has some kind of exotic tone to it, even with everything left stock. I can't imagine what it might sound like if it had an exhaust or intake.
Next up is, most likely swappin a car with a freind so i can see the 8 in motion, while i'm in someone else car....whenever i see another 8 in motion, i tend to want to follow it to see how it looks from all angles.

I've asked people "is it vain for me to love the sight of my car in motion?"

aha this is one of my favorite things to do when i go to a store lol. i got the disease too.
yea i like to let my friend drive my car so i can look at it in motion.. i got the lowering springs, and the car kinda looks more squat down when its moving.. i like to watch the suspension squat on the bumps and dips lol. i also tell him to stop pretty quick so i can just watch it dip down... love it mahn !

Sounds normal to me. If you do not then I'd worry ...
Everytime when I look at my beautiful WB 8, it reminds me that I need to get the MS spoiler and the strakes before we hit summer.

Guilty...a lot. Like some of the others, I go out of my way and take the long way home sometimes just so I can drive past a SINGLE storefront that has a great angle for a reflection...sort of a top down view at about a 10 degree angle. I know EVERY window in my area that gives a good view, and I hit em as often as I get a chance.
My wife rolls her eyes at me when I beg her to drive my car....just so I can drive her minivan and look at my 8. The in-laws recently asked me why SHE was behind the wheel to which I replied "If I'm driving it, I can't look at it".
