Am I getting ripped off??
Hi guys.. this is my first post ever on Rx8club.com... I love this place..
I am seriously considering purchase a 04 AT Rx8 non-touring RX8 clean title wit/ good carfax.. but it does have 60,000 miles on it.. the car will come at price of $13000.. it's my first time buying from a dealership.. and the salesman has insisted there will be taxes and fees.. that's rougly 11% of the cost.. in my case.. $1500.. so i can get this car out of the lot for $14500 and it also has Mazda Limited Slip Differential ($1,800 Option) which the ad claimed.. 60,000 miles are quite high (abused??) I have a 89 rX7 GTU.. i just love the handling.. the price is hard to resist.. i work part-time and school part-time by the way.. i called a local RX8 dealership(san diego) about purchasing a warranty.. the guy whole-heartedly warned me not to buy this car(due to mileage). and there's no way he would let me purchase a warranty through them..
Should I do it?? Anybody?? HELP!! THANK YOU!

I was under the impression that the Limited Slip Differential was only available on the 6MT RX-8.
Someone coorect my math if I'm wrong: AT+LSD=shady dealer/
check KBB for a fair price but don't trust the dealer

My advice is just go 3-4 grand more and get a MT rx8. The difference is night and day man. You WILL NOT regret putting in the extra $ for SOOOOO much more car. Trust me. Either way, good luck to you.

the bukkake master!
balboa, i have owned 2 rx8s so far the first being an 04 auto and the second being an 06 mt. you should really test drive both of the cars because there is a huge power difference. i didnt realize how much the difference was until i drove the mt and i was immediately hooked. im not bashing the auto at all get what makes you happy but test drive them both first so you dont regret later on.

Just curious, $1500 in dealer fees seems a bit high to me....I wouldn't buy it but hey its your money. Even the dealer did not reccomend that car, so why are you trying so hard?
Save money and buy a better one

At least you know you'd be able to find lots of technical info about the RX-8 here on this forum.

Everyone is always talking about OTD prices. As it is somewhat meaningful to explore for fees etc. However, taxes can be substantial and you cannot compare my OTD price on a car to someone in another state where taxes are differnet.
if this was in NY where I am, his taxes would be almost $1200 plus probably $100 for DMV fees.
Now I don't agree with paying any 'fees" to the dealer, but $1500 if there is a high tax rate isn't completely out of line.
