Jaisin, if your situation is the one you've described there, it's not a nice situation and losing a parent at young age is certainly dire. But in your situation a car and an internet forum about this car may distract you, but then the internet is harsh and not always (or almost never) the right place to discuss personal tragedy. That's what friends and, ideally, relatives are there for.

My advice would be not to take a forum too seriously, nor the car. You're sixteen, so it's the right time for night long discussions with friends and - of course - girls. Enjoy your car but don't focus too much on this forum.

Thanks. The car doesn't distract me much. I drive it to get around town, and I come here to share my experiences and learn new things. Six months ago I wouldn't have know what a Blow off valve or FI or NA meant.

You are an articulate, and obviously fairly intelligent guy. As much as we get in your face about the topics of your posts, I do have to admit it is so much nicer that you don't post like most people your age in that godawful IM shorthand crap. You use real english, even if we disagree with your subject matter.

Suggestion: Rather than constantly posting about all your mishaps and mistakes with your -8, your friends experiences and mistakes, and all your "almosts", try positing POSITIVE experiences. Or actual questions or comments of interest. Seriously, the whole "I almost did that" or "oops I wrecked my -8" or "I was almost racing this Mustang" stuff is really really maddening to most of us who drive our cars well and responsibly. Nearly every single post of yours have been about stupid, adolescent and dangerous behavior that the vast majority of us abhor.

If your college finances aren't already taken care of (and if they are, congrats - make sure you work and study hard), then I'm with AQA here - sell your -8 and go to college. I think it's a far better lasting legacy to your mother than a sports car that could ultimately kill you.

Because this is the internet and a person is not neccessarily the same person in the internet as it is in real life, if you get the drift.

And concerning the bastard issue, I guess Stew and I were not all too harsh with Jaisin, or at least stopped being harsh after Jaisin came across with a little more information on his background. I think Stew expressed it pretty well in his post, most people here want a serious discussion on technical and driving issues in the first place. Jaisin posted a string of mishaps that sounded a lot like he's gonna kill himself with the car in the near future.
