Allow myself to introduce... myself.
Wow, it's been 2 months of secretly reading posts on this website, and I can't believe this wondrous day is upon me. I am actually posting.
First off, let me say that this site is great. Coming from the tight-knit VW world, it's comforting to know that the RX-8 community has a decent forum set up like this. My reason for posting is because I am purchasing a new RX-8 this coming week and I wanted get acquainted with the RX-8 community.
So here it goes.
My name is Thane. I'm a newly married, 28 y/o dude who lives with his rockin' wife in our CT home. I work in Mystic, CT as a business development manager and my smartypants wife works as a chemist for a major pharmaceutical company. I decided to go by the user name OfficeNinja because I work in a stuffy office located in an old building. I spend the majority of my day staring at my 1970's awful green cubicle wall a.k.a. pine green death. The ninja part comes from my secret desires of office domination through the use of mind tricks and sabotage. Don't tell my boss.
Interests: anything to do with cars, techie gadget stuff, hardcore pc gaming or anything geeky, scotch (single malt always), music (sans country), and obviously the typical guy stuff.. *****, beer and things that explode.
So, I came to this RX-8 haven because I have wanted one of these damn cars since they came out a few years back, and now I have the opportunity to actually buy one. Since I graduated college back in '01 (Ithaca represent!) I have had a pretty solid involvement in the VW tuning scene. I've owned 4 GTI's of various years and motors, and my wife has owned a newer Jetta and currently drives a New Beetle Convertible. Right now my daily driver is a black 2001 GTI with a mildly tuned VR6, dropped with coilovers on some multipiece RH wheels, exhaust, intake, etc, etc. I've traveled to tons of VW shows up and down the East Coast, and have even helped start a club or two. I hope I can bring my passion for cars and my level of involvement to the RX-8 scene. Coming from the awesome community that the VW world is, it's always tough getting used to a new crowd, but judging by the people on rx8club.com, I think I'll be just fine.
Oh, and I'm a huge fan of gtg's so if anyone lives in the CT / RI area, hit me up with a pm and we'll set something up.
Cheers everyone.

Extraordinary Engineering
Good intro! Welcome to the forum!
There are lots of mods and a large enthusiast community for the RX-8 so you should have lots of fun.
I'm starting to do a lot of the mods to my '8 that I couldn't afford when I had my GLI Jetta.
Post pictures when you take delivery.

Exactly... Actually, just about everything in my area is named after some Indian tribe or something to do WITH Indians. I haven't the foggiest why/who/what Pawcatuck is. I just know that over the border in RI, there's a town called Pawtucket. Try explaining THAT when you're drunk.
Wow, thanks for the warm welcome people.
Here's what I'm looking to pick up.
2007 Galaxy Grey Mica
Touring Edition with black cloth interior (had leather in every car and it's too slippery on the track!), Appearance package, Rotary Accent Package, Rear Wing and a bunch of other bells and whistles that the dealer is throwing in. Oh, and my dealer has the anti-chip clear bra film so I'll pick that up too.
Originally, I went into this looking for a Velocity Red GT Package with everything... but then I started to realize that I don't NEED everything. I also found out that going and ordering a car through Mazda is pretty involved, and I'd have less negotiation room on the bottom line. So basically, the local dealer had 2 of the GGMs in, and 1 VR auto. They looked around for me and found another 2 cars, both with leather. I'm just going to offer them $500 under invoice and see what happens.

Kane-
I actually started out working as a contractor in Pfizer's data center a few years back. I started as an operator (monitoring servers) then worked my way through management. I moved into project management, and eventually my company hired me internally to handle their business development in the area.
Specifically, we deal in IT services. My job is to develop / manage our business relationships in New England. I love my job.
I hope that answers your question.

Kane - Happy Birthday man. I have family and friends fighting the good fight as well. Just know that we appreciate what you all do over there.
Oh, and that exploded underwater ordinance was spectacular!

welcome aboard fellow nutmegger (or whatever they call us). check out the northeast forum for some get togethers. a lot of us keep saying we should get together and just need to do it. maybe new haven since that should be fairly central to those of us south and those to the north. i am just too lazy to go up to the hartford area but know there are a few up that way. in any case, good first post and welcome.
