Just checked out that plastic coating, certainly has potential to stop rock nicks, etc. there was quite a bit of info on it but it didn't say how thick it was or an idea of cost. Guess I'll talk to an installer. Still, what a great idea!

Thanks for the info!

I understand that not all of the clear film manufactured has the ability to wrap around a bumper like ours. Adhesives and material properties are not all the same. I know DigiShield works. I do not sell or make anything from them, just found a product I like.

Has anyone had the undercarriage of their cars spray coated? I'm not sure what the substances are that companies use, but I've heard in cold climates that they are very effective at curtailing salt and preventing rust.
If exposed to salts (corrosive) either sea or calcium chloride, do that for the rust protection. It also deadens sounds, especially road noise, very well. It's sprayed-on underneath & anywhere you won't/can't see. In the doors, wherever they can. It's like a black tar-like stuff that's wet & foamy when sprayed, then it hardens to a good extent, still kinda messy if you get into it. Bodyshop guys will hate you for it. Of course, your car will never be seen in one of those places, right? I did it on my new cars when I lived in PA. Down here in SC, nah. If I lived in Charleston or Myrtle Beach, well, probably there. I always wash REAL good when coming home from the beach, spraying the underneath, brakes - from behind as well as from the wheel-side, fender wells, exhaust stuff, everything very well with the hose on full blast.
