Advance keyles entry help !!

So last night I was getting something out of my trunk and my key fell (without even me hearing it) inside. I didn't. Even realize it fell and when I closed the trunk, you guessed it, I got locked out. Another huge problem was I only have one key. Now 2 questions:

1) Those of you who have the advanced keyless what type of spare key do you guys have ? Just a key or a key with a built in chip? I'm debating which one to buy ... A normal key cut is just 5 bucks and a chip one is 115 plus another 100 to program it.

2) Alsoo when I manually try to unlock my door with the key, it won't turn counterclockwise, but when I turn clockwise to lock it, the car locks. Also when I use the key to open the trunk that woorks fine, its just unlocking my door. Any help ?

Thanks ken

Ummmm I'm confused.

You aren't supposed to be able to lock the advanced key less entry key inside the vehicle or trunk. It just beeps and beeps for a long time before it finally locks.

Did you not hear the annoying beeping for about 10 seconds before it locks?

well, ive never used my "valet" key in the doors or trunk, maybe not even the ignition. but ^^ is correct, with a functioning system you cannot lock the keys inside the car. if the cars locked already and you shut it in the trunk, well i guess you found out lol.

spare...? i have a pair of the key cards.. my spare is just like my primary

1. I cant tell if the key is chipped or not. I believe it is chipped.
2. could be dried lock, try spary some wd40 on the key then insert it into the lock and turn it a couple times,

I tried some WD40 and it opened fine after. So thanks for the advice.

Now on to my other problem. Like I said I only have one set of set. I'm gna buy another set soon. But I'm not sure whether I should just buy a normal key and cut it to match OR go with the key that's got a chip in it (allows you to start the car). I figure the only time I'd need the more expensive key with the chip is when I lose my main set. But how often does one lose his main set of keys. Help

I've managed to lose the original key for every car I've ever owned. Up til now they've just been ordinary keys, and I've always started out by having spares cut for a couple of dollars, so it has not been a big deal. I now live in constant terror over the thought of losing a several hundred dollar switchblade key.

Bump .. I'm not sure which spare key to get. A regular spare without the chip, which will only allow me to lock and unlock the doors but not start the car. OR a key with a chip (like the one you put in the "card") which will allow me to lock/unlock doors but also start the car. Now the regular key would be good when I lock the keys inside my car. Its only 7 dollars. And the key with the chip is like 112 plus another 100 to program it. That keys only gna be worth it when I lose my main key . Not sure which one to buy .. Help

Are you sure about those prices? I went into my local Mazda dealer a couple days ago and to make a new key for my car and to program it (car only came with 1), they wanted $87.

Also advanced keys are like twice the cost of switchblade keys. Just another scam.

In the long term, you probably don't want to be squeeking by with just one key for the car. The day you lose it could be the day disaster strikes. That said, I see no reason to feed the dealers more than they deserve. Try to eBay the hardware yourself, if you can.
