About the only thing I can thing about is the updated Starter & 650 CCA battery. They are mentioned in the hard to start TSB. I have 70,000 miles on my 8 and I don’t do anything different now than I did under warranty. My 8 always started fine so I only have the larger battery (1st gen starter). If you can get a break on the labor rate get a baseline compression check now is not a bad Idea. Should your engine start to act funny you can compare it to a time it ran fine. The other thing you should do is getting a code reader for the RX-8. Many times you can fix the problem yourself or with our help if you can read the trouble codes.

I'm in a similar situation...47,500 miles on her. Where is a good place to get a code reader for the 8?

CAN SCAN USB He is running a sale also. It can be a little buggy, but he gives great support on the product.

You can also try the scangauge2.

http://www.thinkgeek.com/gadgets/electronic/8426/

I just recently installed it in my car. It's good for instant readings of batt voltage, open/closed loop, mpg (which is very accurate btw), etc. Plus reading of CEL codes and resetting.

don't think there is a way to log the readings like the canscan yet (I hear a usb connector option will be available shortly though)
