Good Day all!

I\'m about to get rid of my Mazda 3 and will be picking up an 05 - 07 RX-8. Can anyone tell me what I need to look for? Are there any specific points I need to examin on the vehicle / engine that seem to break down often?

Your gas gauge will go down 3x quicker.

Basicly just look around the car for the normal scratches, dents, etc...

Also ask when was the last time the coils, spark plugs, and spark plug wires have been changed. What was the cars maintenance schedule like? Did they get the car from an auction or trade in?

Make sure all the recall's have been performed especially the MSP-16 recall.

Basicly ask to see the paper from Mazda of all the warranty work performed.

If no warranty work was performed, I would tell them to perform all recalls, update coils, plugs, wires. And do a compression test.

Make sure the car can pass inspection.


Things to look out for that are common.

- If the car is a Manual the transmission does have a whinny sound when the clutch is disengaged.
- Moisture in the tailights
- Moisture in the headlights
- Milky dipstick (mainly cold weather) Very common
