Damn, Sohn adapter and turbo are getting even further away. Why don't they just give us all a 16x and be done with it. j/k. w00t!

TeeFar 05-30-2008 09:59 PM

Whaaaaatttt???!! No way, I need proof!

Reassured

Well this is probably an oddball place for my first post, but I nearly jumped out of my chair when I saw this stickied at the top of the forum. I have been pondering buying an '04 8 for about a month now (woot upgrade from a 99 civic), and I've probably driven the dealer absolutely mad with warranty questions. Now that there is some backing by Mazda im very reassured that I wont be black-balled and will probably put into motion the purchase.

Zoom-Zoom, am I right?

SilverEIGHT 05-30-2008 10:38 PM

Icarus, it's not 100% confirmed yet. Hang tight and lets see what shakes out over the next few days.

Icarus 05-30-2008 11:33 PM

Ah I see, thanks silver. Though it is still reassuring that something is in the works, and even if it is 8yr/80k mi. (according to fahrfegneugen's confirmation, unless s/he is joking for some reason) thats fine by me. Irony would have it that its a silver 2k4 MT with only 30k mi, sweet deal at $14k, lets hope the conicidence doesnt turn out too good to be true.

dbright007 05-31-2008 12:01 AM

Sweet if this gets fully confirmed.
Silver, even better that you got the scoop.

nycgps 05-31-2008 12:21 AM

O_O

Does that mean I have to wait until 100K miles b4 I can go Turbo ?

Is not a bad thing hahaha :) Even tho Im sure my engine can go longer than 100K miles.

fahrfegneugen 05-31-2008 12:57 AM

I already emailed them, read my post on the second page. This is true.

Maybe I should go back to 5w 20 and have the engine fail, get a new one and take care of that one, cause I got the car used :)

To be named later 05-31-2008 12:59 AM

the only unknown is 80k or 100k, right?

fahrfegneugen 05-31-2008 01:01 AM

Yeah I was told 80 and Silver was told 100

What was the original warranty? 6/60?

fahrfegneugen 05-31-2008 01:03 AM

Yes, but that includes the whole power train.

To be named later 05-31-2008 01:10 AM

I would suspect it may end up being 8yr/80,000 mile.

Simply because most warranties tend to be a simple 6/60,000, or 8/80,000, so 8/100,000 seems out of whack.

I hope I am wrong.

fahrfegneugen 05-31-2008 01:15 AM

We shall see...

DGenR8 05-31-2008 01:17 AM

Sweet!!!

8 Maniac 05-31-2008 01:33 AM

that's cool... kinda... though I'm guessing with nitrous they wont cover any of it...

alz0rz 05-31-2008 01:42 AM

original was 4/48k, then 5/60k, now 8/100k.

Where have you confirmed 8/100K?

swoope 05-31-2008 02:18 AM

great job don..

i will visit my source on monday.. :)

beers

Raptor2k 05-31-2008 02:27 AM

Psh.

Just don't flood your engine guys, that doesn't count under powertrain. Mazda will still be cheap in this regard.

BigWillieStyle 05-31-2008 02:37 AM

I got an 8yr 100,000 mile powertrain warranty when I purchased my '04 8. It was Mazda Certified.

I hope I get reimbursed a little. That warranty is built into the price of a certified car.

Besides that, I think this is outstanding news and very welcome!!

Rotary Rasp 05-31-2008 03:41 AM

this is great news!

scremn8 05-31-2008 07:51 AM

will it help raise the resale value???

Im sure it could.

I think Mazda is trying to tell the world that *Our engines will not blow, we will show you by backing it with our Warranty !*

consider Rotary engine is Mazda's company image. They are just doing the right thing.
