Not! Degrading the structural integrity of a vehicle for vanity purposes is uncool.

You mean I SHOULDNT have taken out the braces behind the back seat so I could build a huge sculpture of my head in the back seat area of my car??

they can't make it a convertible, they'd have to trash the suicide door concept...maybe on the new RX-7

ya, true.

never thought about that. forget it then, it'd be nice.

I guess you'd have to (like you said, trash the suicide doors) and make it a coupe and make the convertable? idk?

the "t-tops" wouldn't be too bad...hhmmm....good idea

The 8 has a reinforced backbone structure for this purpose. I don't see issues with going with going roofless.

ehhhh

its like goin' back in time in a way, considering the 8 is takin' over the 7....right?

so its like hey lets take a 7, which is already replaced w/ the 8, remake it and make it a convertable, nasty!

make the damn 8 a convertable, plain and simple..hah

i agree about the 7. i dont think a convertible 8 would look as nice as these do. no way to have all the contours. then again, maybe they can just create a whole new design for a convertible version. just hopefully not like the sebrings. in my opinion the convertible is long & ugly. but the hard top is nice looking. i've actually owned a 99 sebring lxi. convertibles are great though. i've also owned an eclipse spyder. but i like my 8 way better 2 months later than i ever liked those, even at the beginning.

thats awesome Monique.

you do make a pretty good point about the sebrings, the hard tops are nice and the coverts are just sickning!! idk, them guys @ mazda can do no harm in this, I mean they made the 8 a DREAM, I don't think there is no screwin' up now....idk?

its hard to tell

Should have a hitch - because there sure wouldn't be any trunk room. But shortened to a two seater hard top convertible with top stored Chevy SSR style - could be nice. John

They are, Elara? Musta missed that - cool!

Regardless, there is no reason why they can't turn this car into a 'vert, as a major part of the structural stiffness is due to the center tunnel "backbone."

Thanks for the choh whealy but it really looks alot like the eclipse from that angle. ehh I'd love to see a t-top or targa top but I'm sold anyway, so that would really just complcaite the choices of options when I go to buy mine. not really a bad problem.
