wear out the rear tires quite a bit faster than the front tires (12k miles). Perhaps I romp in the loud pedal too much. Time to rotate.

At the rate of 5 months and only 2500 miles, though, it will be over 4 years before I qualify for a new set!

They spend all the driving time posting on the forums
My stock Dunlops are at 29769 miles of driving and are worn down to about 3/32nds (a little more on the rear now). Been rotating every 7K, although I should've done every 5K instead.

I assume you mean "drive the 8" so little. I actually drive about 150-200 miles a week, but I specifically bought the Mazda as a recreational car only. I commute in my Explorer.
My 8 is just for fun and never gets used for anything practical. It's only for generating adrenaline and pheromones.

Perhaps in four, five years, I may get a new sports car, then the '07 RX-8 will become my commuter- and it will still have pretty low mileage.
That's the plan, anyway.

I have to drive my car everyday, I get anxious if I don't it's like crack, I'm addicted. I got the car last august brand new cause no one wanted that color so it sat on the lot for a couple more months before I showed up. The car is 1 year and 3 months old with 17k miles on it now. I Drive ALOT! At this rate I will be out of Warranty in 2 more years, Until I get myself a daily beater, cause I gave my jetta to my fiance. (Which I still drive the jetta and still have fun driving that one to)
But anyways, I need new tires cause my Potenzas are gone they went bald at 16k miles but I also do Autocrosses so that kills them faster.

Do you use the Mazda cover too? Jeez, that thing can be a pain to remove if you don't have a helper. I usually end up just wadding-it up in a ball to keep it off the garage floor, then rolling it back up in the living room later. Seems to stay in better shape rolled than folded.

I drive to work 3 days a week in my 8. I use my CBR on one of the other days, and my wife's car on 1 of the other days. This will save me approx. 6000 miles per year and I drive my car all weekend.
Back to the tire subject, I rotate every other oil change at 6000 miles. Makes more sense to work the rotation in with another service instead of separately.

Answering the original question, my Potenzas only lasted about 25k miles. I should have replaced them sooner but I only drove the car in fair weather. Regular driving in rain became too hazardous.
