6 Speed Manual shift **** Q

I have been searching for a OEM replacement manual transmission shift **** since the current one is falling apart. Been searching online for a while now and surprisingly cannot find anywhere that sells the MT 6 speed screw-in OEM shift **** replacement for a 2004 model. All I can find are AT shift *****...Anyone know a website that's got it?

Have you tried a Mazda dealership? I know they would be more expensive, but if you must have the oem shift **** that would be the place. You could also check junkyards around your area, some places actually have a list of their current vehicles and all you gotta do is call them.

Why do you need oem though? If you have to replace it look around for some aftermarket ones, people seem to really like the voodoo *****(I think thats their name).

Try Mazmart, in the form vendor section. They're a Mazda-specific salvage yard. They ought to have a good used one.

I'll probably end up getting one from the dealership unfortunately. I hate the "universal" *****, I'd rather spend the money to get one that is actually built to screw onto the threads the way it should.

Voodoo ***** use stock threading have no set screws and are one piece. Google The Knobmeister he can even do your sift pattern.

If you want to stick with oem I suggest you post a WTB in your local for sale section. The OEM ***** also pop up on ebay from time to time.

Why don't you try Sparco? I know Veilside and RAZO(which I have and used for years on different cars) are direct screw on shift ***** for Japanese manual transmission cars. Both have different weights and sizes.

I've got a VooDoo **** and it's awesome, I would get one of those instead. They're a direct fit, they screw on, they're solid and don't feel cheap at all. Feels way better in my palm than the stock shifter as well. Got mine here: http://www.thompson-automotive.com/voodoo.html

I have the OEM **** sitting in my garage, PM me if you want me to shoot you some pictures of it. It's in decent condition.

The Momo stuff is really good I just prefer direct screw on with out the set screws or inserts.

I suppose the screws might come loose over time. RAZO I understand is a direct fit for mazda and they are weighted. specifically the one I like weights 400g which is just slightly more than oem. I have the AF SS so I'm thinking to get the RAZO to combine with the short shifter.

I've had my RAZO shift ***** for quite some time. You can buy the same stuff on eBay and it's the same price as I paid for mine six years ago in Japan. It's distributed here by Car Mate USA

I just ordered the RA66 400g Razo **** through amazon, it was $50 shipped. seemed like a good deal to me, it will be a good replacement while I can track down a brand new oem leather **** for the shinka edition rx8.
I was going to buy the rmagic titanium **** but with its titanium finish it will look out of place in the cabin. I also considered certain MOMO shift *****, but they are too light--almost half the weight of the factory one.

That's the same as what I have, you'll love the feel of it; the only downside is the finish on the metal piece will fade over time. Look closely and you'll notice it on mine.

If it wears is not problem since it's only $50. I hope I can find a more long term replacement that is has both great quality and great looks. I'm not really a fan of the titanium or other metallic or billiard ball-shaped *****.

The metal part will get hot under the sun, I just hold it on the pseudo-carbon fiber area.

The stock one also gets hit on the rotor snapped metal part, I use a sunshade when the car will sit a long time under the blazing sun.

This is the illuminated one everybody's talking about. Worth $322 plus shipping? That's up to you.

Here's the stock one for less at only $189.
