45k miles and still loving it!

I can't believe i have put 45k miles on my 8 in two years!

Well here are some things i have noticed.

1.Chassis is still tight
2.Handeling is still spot on
3. Still looks good and i still get talk time at the gas station and compliments
4. Seems a tad quick on the low end of the spectrum and noticably quicker from 70-100 than when i brought new.
5.Consumes less oil ,put in a quart of oil now every week and 5 days compared to every week and 2 days.
6. Actually getting slightly better milage , new was pulling 270 -280 miles, present 290-300.
7.Seats are wearing in good, Danm Mazda makes some comfortable seats! almost as good as Recaro's.
8. The rotary motor has been mechanically sound from day one!
9.Shifts are precise and are actually better than when i had new, new 3rd-4th gear shifts would grind under WOT. Had Mazda look at it, and they said couldn't "duplicate" but it hasn't done it since i had it checked at 10k miles.
10. Cabin is still tight and free of rattles.

And most importantly.... the RX-8 is still fun to drive! I really thought that aspect of the car would have worn off on me after the first few thousand miles....NOPE!

She is a keeper, looking forward to the next 45k miles!

Now that you guys have over 35K on your cars. When did you change your spark plugs? What did you notice, before and after? What about wires too?

About to do that in two weeks. So i will give you a update on the before and after. So far i had a flush and fill of coolant done to my car. I live in FL where the temps gets pretty extreme, so i do that to all my cars once a year.I switched to synthetic motor oil now,i use royal purple and tonight i am going to do my once a year cleaning on my K&N panel filter.

I turned 57,000 miles two days ago. I agree with much of what you say. Except mine rattles here and there. And my exterior has been chipped to death. Results of many highway miles

I've had mine since may 04 and I still love it as much as when I bought it. I always glance back at it after I park it to remind myself of what a beautiful car it is. I still get all warm and fuzzy when I think about my car ...
