Don't argue the anything other than the seatbelt one. Tell the judge you had it on and took it off to get your registration, etc. Be emphatic, but not a douche about it. Odds are he'll throw it out and maybe reduce the others. If you go in there and try and say you were trying to pass or whatever about the 40mph thing you'll likely burn up any good will you have with the judge. Just my 2 cents.

I was speeding and got caught, so a speeding ticket was expected. Following closely I think is horse-****, but thats at the officers descresion.
The reason why Im saying he dicked me is for the seatbelt. Now that Ive noticed he messed up the speeding ticket (that ENTIRE road is a 40mph, not just perpendicular to the sign and past it) Im wondering if this gives me more of a case to have the tickets thrown out.
Had he given me just the two tickets I would have called it a really shitty morning and moved on, but he knowingly gave me a ticket I didnt deserve just to spite me. Put yourself in my shoes, how would you feel?
For those of you who have contributed useful advice, anicdotes and suggestions, thankyou, I appreciate the input, and Ill take it to heart.
For those of you who came in here and hounded me and just repeated to me what I did wrong, I have a spoon for you so you can eat my ***.

If you personally go to court and say, "He was wrong I didn't blah blah blah..." the judge always goes with the cop's story. You are going to have to hire a ticket attorney. You will likely get off.

"But officer, you saw me remove my safety belt to get my registration and wallet."
"All I see is your seatbelt isnt on right now, so sign the ticket. Youre lucky Im not arresting you."
Now dont get me wrong folks, Im not against an officer doing his job. I was speeding (not dangerously, but I was over the posted limit) and got caught, fair is fair. Lumping on 2 bullshit tickets in addition though is just garbage. Following too closely, I guess thats up to him to decide, but he just f**ked me with the seatbelt ticket.
Now like I said, the speeding ticket was filled out incorrectly, and I can go back and take photos to prove that where I was pulled over it was a posted 40mph. My question is, do you guys think since he messed up on the speeding ticket (the more serious violation) that the court will be more likely to throw out the other tickets? I have a very clean driving record, 1 speeding ticket, 1 ticket for an expired tag, thats it.
You think its worth it to fight this guy, or should I just bite the bullett and chalk it up as a horrible loss?
I appreciate any input, just let me know what you would do in my shoes.
Oh and before people start bashing me for speeding on public roads, come to Miami and drive the speed limit, you'll be rear ended within an hour. The speed limit here is the flow of traffic.

all i have to say is why the heck did you take off your seatbelt, if he asks you to step out of the car, take off the seatbelt. And like you said you were speeding around the curve. the only questionable thing here is the following too closely and thats debatable. Learn a lesson (watch the roads like a hawk before you start playing with the car).

I've gone to court a couple times and the cop has shown up. I plead no contest and then go to traffic school.
Fortunately, I haven't had any citations in a few years.

yea yea, haha, I mispelled reckless.
Honestly though, you'd think if the officer saw you take the seatbelt off to get into your glovebox that youre safe... the guy did it to be a *****, not because I was in the wrong.
Lesson learned though, never take off my seatbelt unless asked to exit the vehicle.
Just sucks man, like I said, its not the speeding ticket that is bumming me, its the fact that he intentionally screwed me.

W.E. dude, you dont expect a police officer to lie to your face. I think just about every other person in this board is guilty of removing their seatbelt to reach into the glovebox at one time or another.
It NOT my fault that he lied. When I removed my seatbelt the engine was off, key was out of the ignition. Therefore, I was not OPERATING a vehicle, therefore it doesnt matter if my seatbelt was on or not. I dont see how its my fault that he lied, but if it helps you sleep at night...
It very easy to say its my fault when your not in my shoes.
It NOT my fault that he lied. When I removed my seatbelt the engine was off, key was out of the ignition. Therefore, I was not OPERATING a vehicle, therefore it doesnt matter if my seatbelt was on or not. I dont see how its my fault that he lied, but if it helps you sleep at night...

Like I said, I removed it right in front of him. He even saw me struggle to reach the glovebox with it on, and then remove it.
The only reason Im snapping at people is cause Im being seen as an idiot for something any one of you would have done. Thats like calling me an idiot for turning off the car when he pulled me over without him asking me to.
