BTW, 07 is not more expensive. I got the 06 prices, as a matter of fact its cheaper because they added 6 CD changer standard in the GT.

Well technically it is $1500-2000 or so more but that's splitting hairs a bit. Now if you had ordered the tan interior on a stormy blue I could completely understand since that ws not available on an 06.

So what timeframe from order to deliver are we talking about, 6 weeks, 8 weeks?

I was just at a dealer a couple of hours ago and had to walk. The price on the car was good at $200 below invoice (not including incentives) but they were giving me crap on my trade 1k below trade-in value. This one also has about 215 miles on it which has me concerned and it has about $700 in options I don't want. So that got me thinking the price would be the same with incentives (not using financing one) as it would to order a standard 07 GT with the options I want (I looked at a Copper Red Shinka).

I may explore ordering a 2007 and see what I can do on price.

A couple of Mazda dealers have told me it's not possible to order an RX-8 from the factory--typical dealer BS I guess. (Yes, I was talking about a 2007.)

Congrats on the new car, Shotokat!

My car was actually ordered by the dealer in April as part of his yearly supply / consignment. I spoke to him in June regarding the 8 and instead of ordering another one he made some changes to the one that he had already ordered in April. Delivery is expected beginning of September.

I thought that seemed pretty quick. So if I ordered today I'd be looking at what 2-3 months before it arrived?

NM, I called a dealer and it could be as much as 4 months unless they have one more or less configured the way I want in their existing allocation.

For 2007, what's the difference between a Touring and a Grand Touring? The preliminary specs I got showed no difference. But I am sure there is.

Never mind. I found it.

That was how my 06 went. They were given an alottment of three vehicles to start with in October but couldn't do any other orders at that point. They put me down that I wanted one and what I wanted so that when the vehicles were "unlocked" for color choices and options for the dealer one would get to be mine. They were "unlocked" in November except for their first one which was set as a Galaxy Gray from Mazda with predetermined options and the specs were "frozen" and couldn't be changed. They changed car #2 to my specs and I had to wait until March to get mine. Otherwise, they said you couldn't actually start ordering additional vehicles until January.

Yes its true. 4700 cars were dammaged, 11 of them were from my dealer and ofcourse one of the 11 cars was mine.

But my dealer has already jumped on this soon as she got the news, they have already started to build my replacement car. And now I will get it in mid october instead of september.

I was a little depressed when I heard the news but I'm not really too upset and I'm very impressed the way my dealer handled this situation. She's really great.

yeah, that incident was the reason i decided to get the 06 instead of 07. i didnt feel like waiting that long, and the ship wreck or whatever increased the wait. plus i am sure getting the 06 was cheaper.
