2006 Mazda RX 8 Warranty Question....

Hi all RX8 lovers.....First let me say that its a great car....Love it....

I just purchased a used 2006 Mazda RX8 Shinka with 41500 miles on it. Original warranty is already expired and i am hearing some news about Mazda extending the warranty to 96 months / 1,00,000 miles. I have few questions regarding same.

1. Am i eligible for it as i purchased it used?
2. Do i need to have all the maintenance/service receipts? I read that we should have all the receipts to get this extended warranty. Is this true? Any Options?
3. My car has always been serviced regularly from one Mazda authorized dealer here in my town...If receipts are must can i get copies of same from him?

Thanks so much!!

Warranty automatically transfers with the car. The warranty time begins when the car is first sold. A Mazda dealer can tell you that.

4 year 50000 bumper-to-bumper has expired.

You should still have a year left on the 5 year, 60,000 mile powertrain warranty. Still lots left on the 8 year 100,000 mile engine core warranty. Note that these cover certain components. There's a sticky here on the engine core warranty.

Sign up in the owner's section at Mazdausa.com to get the full wording.

What you need for receipts depends on the mood of the dealer you go to. In principle, you just need enough to make a reasonable case that the car was maintained. Some dealers are ***s and seek excuses to deny claims. Some are cool and follow reason. Usually when you buy used you just need proof from when you got the car.

The dealer would have records of the service...you probably don't need to get actual copies.

Enjoy the car...and welcome to the rotary world!
