2,887 lbs at track today

With 3/8 full of gas. I was surprised it weighed in this low. It's a 2007 Sport model, so no leather, no roof, no bose, etc.

It was weighed by NASA at Mid-Ohio with the same scale they weigh in all the race cars.

I have Enkei RPF1s 18x8 and 2 piece front rotors, but no other weight reduction.

^stock is over 3k so that is a little odd, but then again I think thats with a full tank so if you take out 8 gallons your losing 64lbs right there

You wouldn't believe how much weight the 8 can lose. On the ST class 8's I crewed for last year they weighed in at 2650lbs. Now that's fully gutted plus the addition of a full roll cage...2887 doesn't seem to far fetched depending on what was removed from the car prior to weighing in.

Cut the soda and saturated fats. You'll drop the weight if you keep up running it hahahaha

The only things I removed were the floor mats and tire repair kit. The Enkei's and 2 piece rotors save a total of about 20 lbs. It's surprising it was that light, but with me the total was 3,105...yikes, that's 218 lbs.

I'm assuming it's an accurate scale system since it's used for all of the race group cars. I run HPDE 2, but they let me weigh it.

My 2004 GT weighs 3070 with spare tire and I believe full tank of gas.

the sport models are a lot lighter than the GT models. ever taken out the drivers seat? it is faaar heavier than the passenger seat due to the full adjustibility. i believe the base model rx8 weighs around 2900+a few pounds.

Yeah, thats the rub about having all the nice features, they do tend to weigh a lot more. I absolutely love my heated seats during the winter, but during the summer I wish I had a nice set of Sparco racing seats instead.

I had my 07 sport corner balanced and it weighed 2920 with 2/3 of a tank of gas and no spare tire kit. I removed 15LBS with a light weight battery, 10 LBS with 2 peice rotors all the way around, a few pounds with a BHR flywheel, and a couple with the AEM intake. I added some weight with coilovers and full MS body kit. My racing beat exhaust added weight but I have a mid-pipe so the exhaust is a wash. So yes 2890 sounds right.

You mean Nitrogen, because helium will expand and contract too much as weather changes and will not be reliable. Nitrogen, on the other hand, is far more reliable and will leak out slower if you got a puncture.

I think the sport model is around 2960lbs from the factory.
I can see the wheels and lighter brakes saving some decent weight, so that number seems pretty accurate to me.

I believe non-GT weighs under 3000lbs. Only the fat lard GT is around 3080lbs. You know 9 speaker Bose, leather seats, electric motors/heater elements, heavy balast HIDs, sunroof, 6 CD changer, bigger rims and brakes etc.... all adds up.
