Don't know where you heard that, definatly not happening that early in the UK anyway.

Our production run starts at the end of March and when complete it will take two months to ship the cars over from Japan.

Some demonstrators may arrive in June but the first customer cars will not arrive till the end of July, probably early August.

Production runs: Japan/Pacific first (started in Feb); US "mid-March" (LHD); UK/Canadian -"mid-April" (RHD). If you look at the Canadian versions and the UK versions you'll find the standard models and features quite similar (like no auto in UK I think, sports pkg standard, 6CD standard, and I believe 5speed with the standard HP engine available as well.

And don't forget the pissers... :D unfortunately the Canadian models will probably not get the rear fog light like the European's will despite the pictures on the Mazda Canada web site.

UH - no, no, and no! Canadians do not drive RHD cars, and the option packages here are not like the UK at all - we get the auto, no low-po/5 spd version.

Lightbulb

If the Japanese/Pacific market is first, it would make sense to carry on the RHD production run and satisfy the Australian & British orders next without changing the assembly process drastically......Then swith over for the Euro/North American LHD models.
I am probably WAY overthinking this. The japanese manufacturers have been making left & right hand models side by side for 40 years, probably not an issue!

Ray.
