1st to 2nd Shift

Hey guys, i'm trying to improve my shifting skills, but i always find getting into 2nd gear from high rpms a bit notchy. Is there anyway to cure this?

These threads do a pretty good job of describing it

At higher rpms my car almost seems to suck the shifter into any gear its pretty effortless and just slides right in.

How long have you been driving a manual, is this your first?

If that's all the miles you have on the car, it may just not be broken in yet. Mine was kind of notchy/rough for the first 4 or 5 thousand miles. Once it broke in it was like butter.

After numerous manuals I did find the Rx8 1-2 shift picky (or different). It does NOT want to shift if the driver pulls the **** at a slight angle toward their body. This has never been an issue before for me. In the 8 you have to shift that **** almost STRAIGHT down. I'm use to it now and don't embarrass myself any more.

Mine has always been that way on a 1-2 shift at high RPMs. I just consider it a quirk of the transmission, like the way reverse likes to pretend like it's in gear when it isn't.

I'm new to the RX8 and have noticed the notchy feel at 1st and 2nd also. Mine has 49K on it. It also seems It seems I have to push the clutch kinda far in to get it to release easily. The clutch also starts to engage when it seems like the clutch pedal is only a couple inches from the floor. I'd hate to think the clutch is going out. That would totaly suck. Does this seem normal to you guys???
