ON 16x rotary engine release?

I was wondering when it is estimated that the 16x rotary would be released. I was going to purchase a 2009 rx-8 this month, however, when I heard that a new 16x engine (which people thought was coming with the 2009) was on its way, I would be willing to wait a year for it.

Thanks for the answers.

More than a year. 2011-2012-2013 timeline. Which with the Carpocalypse means potentionally never.

Oh and get an R3.

IF it ever comes out, it won't be for at least 2 or 3 years.

2012 model year- ie 2011 calendar year- was what i read.. BUT at this point all the publications are purely speculating. Even Mazda hasn't officially stated when. it's also still unclear whether the 16x will be placed into a 3rd gen RX-8 or re-introduced 4th gen RX-7, though the prior seems more likely.

you'll be waiting a LONG O TIME O if u don't get the 8 now...

except everyone seems to not understand/remember that when mazda talks year dates they always mean the actual year and not the MY. So if some media type is hinting that they heard 2012 from a mazda source then that would mean in the actual year 2012 regardless of what MY they designate whichever product they are talking about.
