13B Rebuild Video

Hey Guys,

Plans are in upcoming months to rebuild my 6 port. This will be my first rotary rebuild. Does anyone know of a good rotary rebuild video that I can buy? I know atkins sells a rebuild video, anyone ever seen it? Any good?? I have watched some on YouTube.

I just want to know what I am getting myself into before I do this. I know it doesn't mean much but I have rebuilt several piston engines in the past without issues. As long as I have the proper steps, clearance tools and specs Ill be fine.

Thanks!

David

I did that earlier today, it came up with one that rotary resurrection did back in 05, the pictures wouldn't load. I guess they have gotten erased? Is that the one you are referring to?

I'm all up for doing it yourself, but rotary engines are a totally different monster. You are in OH, take a look at DEFINED AUTOWORKS | Service Repair Upgrades | Performance for Mazda RX7 | RX-7 | RX8
I will be calling them when I'm ready for my rebuild, maybe in a year or 2.

I bought the Atkins video along with their full kit. Found it very helpful. Also liked how they included a chart of bolt torques, tolerances etc. Even though I specified the RX8 video, it seemed to be a slightly more generic 13b video because at one point they show you how to install the distributor. They also don't go over the renny-specific oil cutoff rings, but those are really minor things and pretty easy to figure out. Would highly recommend buying it.

Zig, Atkins only sells one video on the 13B. They don't have one specific to our Rx8s, I did see where you can select your year and they will send you a spec sheet, very cool.

Which rebuild kit did you buy?

I was on mobile so couldn't look it up while at work.

Atkins Rebuild Kit C (ARE68-Manual)
OEM apex, corner, side, cutoff seals (cut to length).
Did the clutch, machined flywheel, trans input shaft seal, braided clutch hose and shimmed the front regulator while I was at it.
