I Have 128,000 on mine with the original engine. It's been my daily driver for the past 3.5 years and I've had no problems except for some sunvisors and a little bit of water in the tail lights.

Lucky man you are. Fingers crossed for you. If and when mine gets another engine, it'll have the mazmart water pump, a sohn adaptor and BHR Coils before it even goes in the car :P |

I have a 2007 model and have just racked up 126,000km (I'm in Australia). I live 50km from the nearest city so I do mostly highway driving (>100km per day when I drive it). I got 85,000km from my original Bridgestone tyres. The only major part I have had to replace at this point is one rear shocky (hope I don't jinx myself). Love driving my '8.
|
almost 101k on mine, but I've only owned it since 97k. Clutch went out, and it was the original. That's all... so far. But practically everything on the car is stock and it's been well taken care of. So maybe i'll still be able to get some enjoyment out of it.
|
I have looked after mine with regular servicing and she is showing no signs of problems, so hopefully we will both make >200K like the guy in the 200,000 club! I must admit tho I was wondering how long these engines generally last before they need a rebuild. Reading the threads it seems like anything from 37K upwards. Seems we have both done fairly well so far.

nice thread good sticky mines 68k going strong still around 2 years togo till i reach 100k will let you no :)
|
At 112k+ and only needed to do clutch and coils.
|
Got the car with about 80k on it bone stock.
Did some things with it then at about 95k thought maybe I should take it in just in case, only had a few hot start issues. Dealer replaced engine car now has 101500 miles on it. |
how much is a replacement engine seems many refer to mazda and get one straight away?
|
I love the RX-8 so much, I practically drove it and lived in it everyday! Exactly a month after I bought it(26th of June), I've already added up to 5,500 miles. That was two years ago...
http://photos-f.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos..._8282111_n.jpg I now have 157110 miles in my original engine... And hoping for more! http://a5.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...42988273_n.jpg |

The OEM warrantly is 8yr/100K miles on the engine core. (They can) perform a decarb and vacuum test to see if your engine is still in spec. It's also common to have to replace coils, plugs, and wires. You can do this yourself first if you're inclined. It's much cheaper than the dealer and they'll want to you replace them before they diagnose the engine.

On my way to 154k..
I should probably update my sig. :P |
90k miles on original evetything except plugs and coils and brakes , 10k more to go...

Just joined the 100k mile club yesterday. Original motor and still running strong. Here's to many more!
|
Hey, welcome to the club. I am now at 128,000K and going strong.
|
What maitanace did you do to your RX8 after 100,000. Mine just hit it 2 days ago. Also, how the hell do I start me own threads or post messages on this??
|
Well, you have obviously figured out how to post replies. As for starting a new thread, dunno. I just found one that fitted my topic at the time and joined in.
RE servicing, I still just stick to the logbook recommended 10,000K service intervals. I haven't had any major problems so far although the local Mazda dealer tried to con me into replacing both rear shockies at 100,000K. I took it to a shockie specialist and they said nothing wrong with them at all. I am at 128,000K now and going strong. Welcome to the club. |

HEY! Instead of starting a new thread, better use the SEARCH and read up! 90% of the info you need may have been discussed already.
Otherwise, start here: Dumb Question Thread - no flaming or sarcasm allowed |

Close to 106,000 miles. Woo whoo! CAT replaced at 78k. Other than the cat there has only been normal maintenance stuff. Love the rotary! Red line a day, everyday!!
