I ran 15.0 stock. I haven't been to the track yet since I've gone FI now. I'll wait until I break the turbo in and when I have a BOV mounted.

so 13.1 with a turbo is the best we have on here. Not that its bad that is actually pretty impressive but has anyone with a 20b or anything like that taken a qt mile time with their cars. I would think that someone would have had to. Whats the point of putting a 500-900hp engine in your car if you aren't going to see what it can do.

Seems like the couple 20B swaps have been little more than show pieces. Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think the PR guys have taken their car to the strip yet. I can't even recall seeing a dyno for that car, but maybe they posted one and I missed it...

I thought they might have at least tried to dyno or qt mile it. The cars don't really look like show peices to me. I've seen many nicer looking 8's. The engine doesn't make the car a show peice but that's just my opinion.

Thanks, missed that somehow. So I guess that just leaves Acosta... What ever happened with that car? After they failed to sell it a few times we didn't really hear anything about it.

actually acosta produce a 900hp show car, but i've never heard of them taking it to the 1/4 (which is ironic cuz with the shop in jersey there are 3 major 1/4's strip within an hour and a half drive.) Also it was probably a show piece, with nowhere near the proper equipment to put that power to the ground let alone be a daily driver like the PR's.

To clarify, it was a 10.4 at 144mph. Mad props to those guys!! That's amazing!!
Now, he did have to run a 10 inch slick on a 15" rim to get the power down. Let's put it into context...
We have a few GTO's running high 10 seconds as their street setup (street legal drag radials on stock rims, no engine swap needed). Nothing you guys don't know already, but the 8 owners and vendors haven't put forth any real efforts to excel in drag racing yet.
I guess the RX8 community should quit at 1/4 mile completely and stick to good ol' autocross and road racing.

its not a 1/4 mile, but there's no reason to quit trying, plus a gto isn't hittin 10's without a cam.

I know, what I meant is that just leaves Acosta with the show piece car. Plus even though they claim to be making 900hp there was never anything to indicate they're weren't just pulling numbers out of thin air.

You're absolutely right, man... an aggressive cam, all kinds of supporting mods with a beefed up tranny, and a healthy shot of the juice. Here's the so-called "evidence"
http://videos.streetfire.net/video/5...3801097291.htm
I guess the point is that it takes a helluvalot of time, effort, and money to get there. Ask this guy how long it took to get into the 10's.

I believe it, i've got a friend with a 02 6 speed SS (has the ls6 block, i think only a few were giving the ls6 block in its final production), and another friend with a 00 6 speed firehawk. the firehawk is just about stock except for a cut out in the exhaust, but its a beautiful car, dark blue.

you're right, plus even if the numbers are near that the engine itself isn't going to last long. I can not imagine the tuning going into 500hp so extremes above that is pretty much an explosion waiting to happen.

He's on the juice, used DRs, and ran a 10.9@ 126? Sorry, but that's lame.

It's a 10 sec street car. I find that admirable.
I'll say it. There will never be a 10 sec street legal RX8 with a Renesis. Never. I'll look back at this post in 3 years and say, "yep, I'm still right."
Would you agree, Ike?

Why take away drag radials? DR's are DOT street legal tires. Now, if you're about slicks, they aren't street legal. Big difference.

Big ole V8 on the juice with DRs and only trapping 126... Nothing special if you ask me. Certainly faster and quicker than my car. I guess I'm just jaded because there are some guys running 9's and 10's in street driven Evos with no juice and trapping MUCH higher. Here's an example of one of those cars...

I don't know about never for an RX-8 with a Renesis running 10's. It won't be any time soon though.

Forced induction is forced induction. Nitrous / turbo / supercharger doesn't matter. The GTO dude is running completely stock block, crank, rods, pistons... I know it's a big 6.0L V8, but damn our cars weigh a fat 3,750. To make 10's on an engine block that floated out of the GM factory doors is cool. I know the F-body and Vette guys have done this for years. The trap is kinda low. I don't think he's making that much power, but a heckuva lot more than I'll probably ever have.

That video is crazy!! Wow. 151 mph trap. Sick. His nickname "Danimal" definitely fits. There's a guy that's not afraid. He needs to get an RX8 and light a fire under some butts. His in car videos are impressive.

For entainment... a 9.95 sec turbo GTO... he has some faster runs, but I enjoy the sound on this video. Boosted V8's are fun too!

I disagree with your first statement. I never have to make excuses about running out of turbo The fact that the F-body guys have been doing it for years is certainly a factor in my lack of enthusiasm with the vid you posted. Also keep in mind there are dozens of GT35R Evos in the US now, that makes the car capable of low 10s without the juice. There are also about 10 Evos in the US that are capable of running 9's and a couple have recently broken into the 8s (the shop that tuned my car has tuned 5x900 whp+ Evos). None of them are on the juice... yet... The two 8 second cars have recently gone for broke and stopped being street cars.

That said, I'd love to have a modded WS6 sitting next to my Evo. I love the big Chevy V8s. But, I own a house now and have to be smarter with my money. I also rather like the GTO, the looks do nothing for me but they're nice cars. If I didn't live in an area with such bad weather I would have more seriously considered a GTO. I also really like having a sedan and it makes life a lot easier for me.
