BC 09 RX8 or a 07 RX8 that will be modded?

I about to get a RX8 very soon, but then i saw an ad for the 09 rx8 R3 for $33,900 with 4km on it compared to a $28,900 07 model that i can put a body kit on,etc... i don't know which one i should go for :S

If you haven't already bought a body kit for the RX-8, and that extra few thousand dollars isn't that much of a concern, I would go with the 2009. The 2009 has a revised engine and seems to be more stable than the previous years, and most importantly you will have that extra 2 years of warranty just in case your engine decides to go. The body kit really shouldn't be a deciding factor unless you have everything already bought out and can't resell/return it.

This is a freaking no-brainer. Go for the '09.

I also vote 09. I love the way they look and the extra little reliability mods on the engine are just too nice.

If THAT 07 is the only other option, then the R3 for sure. By the title i thought the 07 ALREADY had all the mods. But a stock 07 for THAT much, hells no.

Plus the R3 kinda has a subtle body kit, actually more like skirts and lip but its still nice looking plus all the other additions.

OR, you could look for a diff low mileage 07 for around $20k and save a good chunk of cash.

If you're not going to do engine mods and you like the way the 09 looks, then go for the 09.

If you start making more power w/engine mods, the 09's aggressive rear axle ratio will make traction even more problematic.

You can get an '07 for waaaaay less. I just got my '07 GT w/out Navi and Sirius for 18,100 USD + tax, title, and fees. In Greenwich, CT of all places.

Are these prices "out the door" prices or the asking prices? If they're asking prices I would probably go with the 2007 so you will be better off financially. But if you are considering that, I would probably do what others are suggesting and find a cheaper 2007 model since 28,900 is a bit much. If you can I would try haggling these prices down since the economy being as bad as it is, car dealers are willing to go pretty low especially on RX-8's since they aren't selling terribly well. As for the mods, I would still go with the 2009 if you can. If you can just buy the 2009 and not be able to mod it the second you buy it, it would still be a better investment just because you will have a better platform to build on when you save enough for it. But again, these are just my opinions and the end choice is completely up to you.

thanks alot for the feedback guys, i went with the 07 model and i got the price down to 26,500 which is 20,530. the 07 model only had 2200km on it so i thought that was the better deal.
