06 Auto vs Manual
Hi,
I was wondering what the differences were between the automatic and manual model Renesis engines in the vehicles that came with 6 speed autos instead of 4 speed. I am in the process of learning about the rotary engine and I was wondering why the manual version has a higher red line than the auto version. Do the autos not rev as high to save stress on the engine or is there another reason for the lower red line?

I believe that all MT cars have the 6 port renesis and the older 4 spd autos had a 4 port engine in them while the newer 6 spd autos use the same 6 port engine as the MT 's. The autos redline at a lower rpm as the tranny can't take the higher revs.

Torque converter couldn't handle the 9K rpm redline regardless of 4/6 port. MT has no torque converter (b/c of clutch) thus it does not have that limitation.
