Maybe... It is a GT and you may be able to negotiate price a little bit. It also has a Mazdaspeed wing. I would look to see if that is authentic or not. I would get a compression test done at the Mazda dealership for peace of mind. It also couldn't hurt to take someone with you. Find out if anyone near you from here wouldn't mind going with you.

Compression test.

If you're lucky you'll be eligible for a new motor.

It must be the super rare model, seeing how its advertised as a 4 cylinder 2 door, and warranty with 111k on it. ???

i dont see anything about a warranty? and as far as price, ill be putting 1800 down, and 280 a month for 2 years. I have always really liked these cars, just never knew they required extra maintainence, but i dont mind as i am an enthusiast. I called today and sai the only way id take it is if they let me take it to mazda to check on all the recalls, and if i can gt a compression test done. So buy it only if it passes the test?

Make sure when they run a compression test,
they make sure the car is up to temperature so you do not get false readings.

Honestly,
try to see if you could get about $6,000 for it because even if the engine is failing,
there's always a slight chance that the clutch could be, steering rack (known failure for the 8) transmissions, and check the car fax and call your local Mazda and see if they can run a vin check to see how many times the vehicle had to be repaired as carfax isn't always accurate with accidents.

it was an 8 year warranty as well so early purchased 04's are getting ready to tick off if not already so its not just mileage.

Have you shopped around for better financing? The payment plan you outline above equates to a 16% finance rate.

ya i have. its hard to get financed for a decent car anywhere with no credit, even though i do have a cash down payment. i just really liked that one because of all the options, 6 speed, navigation, etc. And the price is great for me as well, just questioning as to the owner before me with the high miles. 16% rate is awesome to me ive been gettin in between 20-25 just to finance me.

It's a well known issue RX 8's can not handle the heat.

Wasn't that mostly '04 autos around Las Vegas? There seem to be a lot of happy 8 owners in Texas.

Don - I don't know if the price is a good deal or not, but definitely take it to a dealer for a look. Compression check, like everyone else says, but a good once-over of everything. That's something to do if you're going to spend real money on any used car with that many miles.

Seems like an easy choice.

In all honesty, if you cant afford to get this car and have money on the side to replace the engine IF it goes, then you shouldn't be looking into it. At that mileage, your engine core warranty is almost up. Even if the motor is about to go before the 120,000 mile warranty, you still need the records to back up your required claim of proper maintenance for you to be intelligible for an engine replacement.

well, i bought the car. compression test passed with flying colors. mazda dealer told me all recalls were serviced, and that i was a "lucky" one that the original motor should last a while. I got an extended warranty from the dealer covering any mechanical problems for 50k miles. I love this car, handles AMAZING, and the navi is sex lol

Well, you signed in the dotted line and your stuck with it. Just take care of it and read the stickies to avoid future problems. Good luck.
