Unhappy *scratched badly* :'(

I parked my car at a shopping centre parking lot today.... when I walked out to my car, I found about 6 to 7 key marks on it.... digging all the way thru the paint and about 3-4mm into the metal..... it was a horrific scene. I almost burst into tears at the spot, feels like someone has stabbed me in the heart.

I havent offended anybody or have done anything bad in the past few years. Havent said anything cruel to anyone nor have i upsetted neone recently. I mean even out of jealousy, theres no need to scratch the car to that degree.....

wish these f*ckheads would go to hell and burn! i curse them all til the day they go 9 feet under.

Really sorry to hear that. Some people just don't have respect for other peoples property. You really wonder why these poeple can't be happy for others that have something nice. One wonders I guess.

This is one of the reasons why I'm getting the shock sensor.

I'm so sorry. People can be really hateful. Whenever I park in a public parking lot, I wonder if I'm going to come back to a door ding. But for someone to actually go to the effort to purposely ruin someone's car with a key, that's on a whole other level.

I dont' think the shock sensor will pick up the keying of a car...more like a bump, door shutting, hood popping, glass breaking, etc

Did you check with the center to see if there's any video footage? Many parking lots are under surveillance, and there might be evidence of the cretin's license plate number, etc. That kind of property damage is probably a felony.

These kinds of stories make me sick to my stomach. I'm sorry abour your car. It's a sad sad state of affairs when owners of nice cars hope that jealous monkeys will just spit on the car as they walk past.

sorry man
last night 5 or 6 teen age kids were standing right next to my rx8 at a coffee shop. I mean they were almost standing on my brand new mazdaspeed front bumper and I was nervous. Finally, one kid pushed the other and he used my hood to brake his fall.

I almost killed everyone!!!!!

I really feel for ya. I had my 8 keyed on the drivers side rear door all the way to the metal. Made me sick.

Definitely check with the place you were parked at to see if they have any video. Maybe you can watch them go back to their car and get the license and have them busted.

Good luck.

Thats just pathetic....i hope this never happens to me. Whenever i see a nice car in a parking lot (Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc) i get excited as hell and try to take a closer look without being to noticable, but i dont KEY the thing! Yeah right, if you spot a beautiful car, have some appreciation for it! Dont make it look gross by keying it up! I just dont understand these people, they are obviously not car enthusiasts, but still, WHY DO IT?!!

Haha. I've probably left a few nose prints on the windows of some nice cars, but the owners will just have to deal with it! :p

Seriously, though, sometimes when I'm driving our Corolla and someone has parked a nice car waaay out in the lot, I will purposefully park next to it to protect the nice car (and to get a closer look). One more door ding on the Corolla won't hurt a thing.

My local supermarket just put in railings to keep shopping carts from rolling off the front sidewalk into parked cars. Yesterday, thinking that I was safe to park in front, I came out, and to my HORROR found that someone could not walk the two extra feet to get their shopping cart behing the railing. You know the new kind of cart that has the basket way up high? Well the thing was wedged on my car. The bottom part under my front bumper, and the bottom part of the upper basket ON MY HOOD! It actually took some muscle and manipulation (forcing the cart apart so I wouldn't drag it off the hood) to get this thing off of my car.

What was soooo unbeleiveable is that there wasn't a scratch to be found anywhere.

I guess the lesson is, always park far away... This suck though because part of having a cool car, is showing off.

If I saw a Ferarri or Lamborghini I would be leaving nose prints too lol. I live in Alabama.. seeing one of those.. I would HAVE to stop and look (But atleast I know I'm not going to be the only one!). I'd be jealous of it but dang I wouldn't key or mess with the thing!

Sorry about your car, Yanje.

If I ever come across someone keying any car... (even if it isn't mine) I would personally get involved. Complete disregard for other peoples property like that just makes me sick.

Sorry about your car... but hey things could have been worse... your car could be sitting at a body shop for over 8 weeks waiting for mazda to send a f*cking suicide door. *tear*

*sarcasm* What, you mean the first thing that comes to your mind when you see a nice car isn't "damn...how can I really f*ck up this guy's day?" I go around thinking that about everybody, nice car or not...

what's this world coming to, where I've gotta put *sarcasm* in front of a statement like that because there are actually people so bitter and jealous out there that they actually do think those kinds of things...

Man, I feel SOOO bad for you! I can't imagine the anger I'd feel if that happened to me. I spent a couple of weeks in your fine city, and am surprised to hear that kind of ridiculous behavior goes on in Perth. People seemed to me to have a lot of respect for their city and its cleanliness, but I guess that respect doesn't extend to automobiles. I can only hope that the jerk's ride gets totalled sometime...

Most people here respect others and their cars. I get alot of people twelling their fingers asking me to lower the windows to chat to me at traffic lights which i really appreciate.

but yeh, there are alot of people whom's lives are so meaningless that they find fun in ruining other ppl's lives. I know this might sound slightly racist, but from statistics around the Mirrabooka area (in Perth), more than 50% of car break-in's and damages are done by Aboriginal junvenilles. I am assuming mine is done by one (was just robbed by 4 aboriginals last sunday, and then get my car keyed badly on the following thursday night.... made me jump to conclusions too quickly i guess)

There are no video surveilence in most open car parks in Perth (inc. just about all shopping centres). Unless its an underground or covered/enclosed parking area, it doesnt have much security at all. Today, i brought my car to get it fixed.... and the panel/smash repair guy told me that the door was keyed so aggresively that the motion pushed a dent into the passenger door as well (which i just realised). almost 1k cash down the pipe....
luckily the guy told me that he'll get it ready for me by saturday evening (most panel/paint guys dun work weekends here) so that i can still enjoy it on sunday and get to work the following week. he'll use an 'oven' (if i remembered correctly, or was it heater) to speed up the drying process and guanantee it'll look the way it was. (basically, it'd be ready 27 hours from the time i put it in, every other guy quoted me at least 2-3 days from the following monday)

I see quite a few car-keying posts on the board. Does this happen to other nice cars - Porsches, BMWs, Z's, etc. - or is there something about 8's in particular?

Sorry to hear about that Yanje,

Which shopping centre was it at? I got my BBS valve stem caps stolen recently, although that was nothing compared to your loss, I can understand how it feels. Hope this is the end of your bad luck for the next ten years! Unfortunately the world is full of vandals nowadays because of the lax laws on jeuvenille offenders....should get caned like they do in singapore if they get caught lol.

That definitely blows. I have NEVER taken my RX-8 to a mall, except for the Orlando Meet, which was a controlled atmosphere. When I park it, I park way out...and check it every time I return.

I don't know what motivates a person to do something like that. I believe it's the same mentality which would induce joy-seekers into riding around with paintball guns, shooting innicent pedestrians, walking on the sidewalk.

If you get an alarm with a proximity alarm, it will warn when people get too close, somebody was messing around last night, and tried to see if the door was locked while I was at work and the alarm went off, including the underglows, it looked cool, and freaked the guy out, cuz he was across the parking lot by the time I got to the window. It is worth getting to put your mind at ease.
