*please help*? the engine/battery plastic covers...
hey guys.. if i can just get someone to tell me... if i really need the plastic covers for the engine/filter/battery... are they beneficial? cuz i installed some things that look nice, but i put the covers back on so it's covered.. i'd like to show it off but if i need them on, i guess i can't? please, hit me with some info!

I think it's mostly if not all, for show (the covers) .... cars have suriveved, even rotaries, for decades without them. So if you like it better without them, feel free to remove.

MazdaManiac made some temperature measurements and found that the engine operates cooler with the cover on.
Personally - I like the engine compartment's look with all the covers on.

If you are at a "show and shine" and want to show your aftermarket stuff, open the hood and store the covers in the trunk. When you go to leave, put them back. The battery cover keeps the battery cooler (there is a tube vent on the bottom of it hanging down). The engine cover does keep the engine cooler (controls air movement under hood). Both covers pop on and off easily.
