Exclamation **My 1st somewhat major problem!**<--Transmission

Today i took my car in to Mazda because I have been having a problem with shifting from 1st to second when I red line 1st . When ever I do this, shifting into 2nd gear has been grinding every time if I am above 7k RPM in 1st. So, after finding this out (Note: I have had my car for three weeks now) I knew I needed to take it in. Turns out that the sincro is messed up from 1st to 2nd. There is a small round gear housing that go's over the larger gear to engage 2nd. They are still not sure why its not grabbing but grinding instead. They did say that it is covered under warranty and it was NOT caused by the driver. It is either a bad part, or it happened during manufacturing process. They are going to order parts in, have my car for about 3-4 nights, replace the a few parts and all the bearings. She should be roaring afterwards.

Minor annoyance. The heater **** (manual) is defective. Have to fittle with the **** to get heat/cool. Also covered and will be fixed. YAY!

I have mine in the shop currently with a bearing noise while the clutch is out and trans is in neutral. When I depress the clutch (I tell it that it has no chance with Denise Richards) the noise sounds like it winds down and goes away. I just heard from the dealership that this is usual for the Ocho's, anyone else have this issue or is this the same issue as above. It doesn't pop out of gear or anything, just makes the noise while sitting still.

Wow, I have the same issue. When I am above 7k rpm SOMETIMES, the engine revs 9+ due to a finicky syncro. I guess I should have Mazda check mine out as well.

Perfectly normal. There are a bunch of threads about this...

Is this a new car or used? If it is new you really don't want to be buzzing around the redline until it's broken in properly.

New owner...need to learn

Everyone is talking about redlining the car, is this what you need to do? My car gets sluggish and they tell me at Mazda I need to run it harder.

There's generally two views on break-in procedure, run it hard or run it soft, do whichever you believed in. Redlining the car once a day is a good way to get rid of carbon buildup in the car, just make sure your car is warmed up properly prior.
