shifting

im new to manual and i got the hang of it in a couple of days and i just had a couple of quick questions

1. how did shift faster to first gear?
2. can someone tell me like the range of speed u should be on for each gear
3. any tips for driving stick

I like shifting into 1st around 40mph... just slam it in and you will be good... just let the synchros do the work...

shifting

Sometimes when the engine and trans are cold, its easier to shift into 2nd then into first.
For economy purposes, I often shift 1,3,5, then 6.
Don't get over the redline too often in any gear...I shift around 4-5,000 rpm to save some gas.
Learn how to double clutch, it helps save wear and tear on the clutch.
You can also learn to blip the throtle between gears when downshifting, it keeps the revs from dipping too low when the clutch is in, and makes the shifting much smoother.
