Does anyone have pics of these installed on a TG? I have the stock rims, and I think they look okay, but they stand alone, and I was thinking the aluminum vents with black grille would look good on a TG and complement the stock rims. There's a few shots of a TG with these painted TG to match if you view the TGs thread (2 or 3 pages back from the date of this post) - it looks really good.

CF Vents Not Sticking

I was at the dealership to get some other work done and asked them to install the CF Vents. Its the RX-FX Fender Vents Carbon Fiber Finish ($119)

http://www.rotaryfx.com/product_p/ext1051.htm

The 3M adhesive tape was dried out so it wasn't sticking. The dealer also said they didn't fit properly. I thought the fit would be perfect. As for the 3M tape, any suggestions

Pretty bummed out.

the tape that comes with the vents are trash. Go to an auto parts store and pick up 3M body molding tape. It's gray with a red vinyl backing. Also make sure the surface is not cold; it will not stick to a cold surface. A heat gun or hair dryer works fine to heat the surface.

The vents will fit fine. They were created from a digital scan of the stock vents and the vehicle surface.

The tape used is not "trash." The tape used is 3M Very High Bond (VHB). After installing the vents on our own car for pictures, we tried swapping them out for a different set the next day and had trouble getting them off. The vents we have on our car now are the last set that was photographed back when we launched the vents. There's no sign of them loosening up at all. We've used this tape long enough to know that it will work great if the surface is properly prepared.

In my experience in working in a body shop; the molding tape works the best. The tape that came with my vents didn't stick very well either. I used the 3M molding tape. No offense, just my experience. I wouldn't consider it a deal breaker anyways for the vents. Still like mine a lot; especially when I color matched them.

Does anyone have pictures of these vents on their 8? The one I'm looking for is the one that the strakes can't fit onto. The product code from rotaryfx is Product Code: EXT1051

Yeah I am getting these for Christmas. I have quite a bit of experience with 3M tape and sometimes it just doesn't stick well. When I installed my front lip I used regular 3M double sided and after prepping it, it stuck fine but then after a week one side came off. Redid it the exact same way and it has been fine ever since. I think temperature and humidity play a role as well.

These vents look sick, can't wait to get them on.
