Went to the 1/4 track last night with some friends.
Only got 3 runs, it's was crazy packed. Temp was like 55 deg....perfect for boosted cars.

Best time of the 3 was 12.7 @ 115, at 12 psi. With a horrible 60ft for drag radials(2.1)
I'm not even launching the car either as I'm on stock rear and 6spd trans
and not trying to break $hit just have alittle fun.:beer05:

I've been getting pm's about why I whiched from the RX8performance REW mount to the Banzai Racing REW mount so here's my 2 cents on it.

First! This is based on my experience.... also I didn't get a special deal or was told to give a review by either vendor.

While using the rx8performance mount I'll say it was overall great product but for me the NVH was getting old.
It's not jaw rattling bad, just more that I prefer.
So I decided to try the Banzai Racing mount when it came out and the NVH was much better.
Both have some NVH they are aftermarket mounts with stiffer bushing than stock rubber.
Both perform as expected, shipped fast. But for me I prefer the BR mainly because I drive my car all the time and prefer a closer to stock ride.

That is all.

.

Schartz 04-18-2015 06:50 PM

Hmm, I guess I've never even thought about NVH, My cars feel like a race car on the road so I don't think it would make a difference either way. My car is pretty solid non the less. Between solid bushings, differential bracing and the rx8performace mount. Car actually rides darn good. Compared to some of my friends cars i've ridden in. Musta hurt the wallet a little eh?

TeamRX8 04-18-2015 11:14 PM

EDIT: deleted the BR exchange and edited the comment below, this thread doesn't deserve to go there.

I don't care for the BR mount design, but if you're happy then more power to you. Curious of you weighed them both to see the difference?

Banzai-Racing 04-19-2015 07:57 AM

^you are really grasping at straws now.

Our mount does not flex, for that matter someone could drive over it with a car and it would not bend, would just scratch the finish a little. There is less NVH because we use real isolating polyurethane mounts that function under both compression and tension. Our shipping weight with the box and hardware is 15lbs.

However the "tubular" monstrosity you are so fond of, has flimsy thin mounting tabs welded to a thin walled tube, at both the chassis and the engine. Even the chassis connection points that are on a tube have absolutely no reinforcement. It only uses 4 of the 6 motor mount holes on the engine, 2 of which are again on a flimsy tab, the other 2 on thin walled non-reinforced tube. This thing has got to flex like crazy. It does not matter if there is a straight tube running through the center, if all the chassis and engine connection points are flimsy.

Banzai-Racing 04-19-2015 12:36 PM

I really don't care what you think. I do see that you are combative with nearly everyone on the forums, which does not put you in a great light.

I too am a Mechanical Engineer and actually own a race shop, that has produced multiple championship winning rotary vehicles. I have developed an entire line on performance parts specifically for the RX-7 and RX-8, so your tiny jabs at our product are actually more humorous than anything else. The people that are actually using the mount know what the real truth is. Firecran is not the only person to ditch the tubular mount.

Though the years I've ordered several items from Banzai Racing for my first gen & 8 and had nothing but excellent service w/fast shipping.
Sorry to hear you had a bad experience with them.

After using both mounts I can agree with this.

TeamRX8 04-22-2015 04:30 AM

Sorry about that, went back and cleaned up my part.

firecran 04-22-2015 02:55 PM

No worries.

TeamRX8 04-22-2015 07:19 PM

hopefully someone else will do the same ...

actually if I was going to choose a plate material design this one would intrigue me the most due to the boxed and reinforced gusset configuration.

I have an offer on an rx8performance mount for about half the actual cost, but I live in Pennsylvania and a super low oil pan isn't going to cut it for driving here. I'm starting to lean towards the BR mount and oil pan as well. It'll cost me about 600 dollars more, but maybe getting the good deal may be better til I get the whole thing set up and and all the kinks worked out.

Since your worry about the oil pan clearance and your roads up there.
I would just do it right the first time, save up untill you can buy what you really want.

Is the banzai mount higher than the rx8 performance one? I modified the rx8 performance to make the engine higher by 1/2"

I never measured the difference in height of the two but what I recall they pretty much are about the same in reference to oil pan distance from the ground.
