wow ... very clean looking swap ... more more more

batangisip89 07-19-2011 12:25 PM

awesome swap! Ive always wondered how people keep these swaps on the street since its illegal to put an older motor in a newer chassis...?

dznutzuk 07-19-2011 01:00 PM

Nice! What are those 2 thingys next to the bov(under the strut bar)?

Not sure about that... I'm in Florida and never had a problem with registration.

That's for the line lock :)

Wallets 07-19-2011 05:12 PM

it varies in state about putting old motor in a new car i belive... so not all states have that law.

pdxhak 07-19-2011 05:16 PM

Some states or counties within them do not require you to smog your car so no one ever checks.

pdxhak 07-19-2011 05:18 PM

firecran, clean looking swap! how is the car running?

9krpmrx8 07-19-2011 05:20 PM

Sick. I have noticed a few of the REW swapped guys have the same ECU heat shield. Are all of these swaps being done by the same shop? This car was for sale here right?

Roidz 07-19-2011 07:33 PM

Looks great.

Yes it's the car that was for sale on here by SSA.
Speed one built the car and they get all the credit!
The build is done right!

I always wanted to do a rew swap in a rx8
And then this pop up forsale. So I jumped on it.
It's cheaper the buy someones upgraded car then you build it yourself.
If it's done right and this cars is!

Winner, winner chicken dinner!

Thanks,
Yeah, thats what I'm buying next.
Current wheels are 9.5" wide, not sure how wide I can go.
Sticky tires will definitely help too.

3/16/2012 update

Little update:

When the 13brew was installed it was mounted on to solid engine mounts.
This creates vibration throughout the body at certain rpms

Last week I installed the 13brew engine mount/brace from rx8performance and its so much better now!

Next on the list is to install the D-Spec's and Tein springs I have sitting here in the garage.

I'm getting excited for DGRR 2012... Gonna be lots of fun on the dragon :FIREdevil

Dope!!!

Sephitrask 03-16-2012 02:44 PM

nice Steve! that was one of the two things about the swap I didnt care for, the other being no OMP... I saw that brace on his site, the swap is getting easier all the time!

firecran 03-17-2012 03:17 PM

Video my my first ever AutoX back in Feb 2012
I'm sorry about the quality  of the video... I hope to have a gopro 2 really soon.

I had a blast! I'm so hooked on AutoX :)

Another one that I found that someone posted on YouTube.(from the march 2012 mini track)
Sorry it's kinda short.

Yes this swap is..... by the time your ready someone will have a bolt in kit for ya! :)

The OMP can be used with the REW swap(when using the renni front cover & ECU) you just have to make your own turbo manifold to clear the OMP.

Im using the FD HKS cast manifold and there is just no room due to the turbo placement for a OMP.

But premixing doesnt bother me at all.

RotaryTherapy 03-29-2012 03:58 AM

What engine management are you using ? That's a sweet car, the engine swap brace is brilliant.

Thanks, running stock ECU w/ Int X. Yes, the brace works well.

Went to the local 1/4 track here in Orlando to do some fun runs against a co-worker with a Audi A4.
I ran with street tires and was boosting 12psi. Fun times!

Link to a video of the runs. My friend in the Audi put this video together.
Third run is my best of the night 13.6@110.
It was frustrating trying to get off the line halfway decent and not spin the tires.:(
