Are you sure? I literally just pulled them off my old subframe and put the on the same side on the R3 one, plus I just googled rx8 drilled and slotted rotors and every pic that pulls up shows them installed the same way

It's the internal vanes that matter, if they are radial the slots can go in either direction, if tilted the internal vanes should "throw" air out from the center, NOT scoop it up, if that makes any sense.

As Love Hounds says, the internal vanes dictate the direction. If the vanes are radial then the directions of the slots don't matter that much; the behaviour of the hot air beneath the pads tends to give forward-leaning slots (as above) a fractionally better ultimate braking performance and rear-leaning slots a fractionally better pad wear. Check to see what the disc and pad manufacturers recommend and, if that fails, go with what you like or just flip a coin.

More new stuff and finally got a daily

Racing beat flywheel and counterweight that I traded my good engine parts for came in so now I can put the engine and tranny back together. I also bought a new daily which is a 1983 FB RX-7 with (likely) the original 12A and 257,600 miles on it. I paid $700 for it and in less than a week I blew pretty much a whole paycheck on just towing (day 2, 2 coolant hoses blew and replaced those and later a tire blew out and bought 4 brand new ones on monday and on day 4 the alternator took a **** and battery tested bad and the coolant level sensor wire also broke at the solder point so need to resolder that now too lol), other than that it runs and drives very strong

*The FB has nothing to do with the swap, but this will be my daily driver until the 8 is done

UPDATE: Did some more stuff

UPDATE: Finally installed the S2 engine and tranny and now just need to connect all of the things to all of the stuff so all of the things can work with all of the stuff

*I really need to stop being so goddamn lazy with this swap, but i've been a bit preoccupied with my FB since getting back from germany 1 1/2 weeks ago like catching on fire again the day after coming home lmao all good now though and running like a champ again

*Also cut off the front of my crashbar. It was already busted to **** from a towing accident a while ago and i'll get another one eventually, but only need the two posts for my racingbeat foglight brackets for now which is why I kept them on

No I haven't, I was planning to use the money from selling my S1 leathers to go towards doing that, but they haven't sold yet

Haven't posted any updates for a bit so here you go: Finally got the busted bracket on the rear subframe fixed and only cost me $30, so now my car can finally have ***** again lol. Tapped my driver's side oil cooler banjo bolts to accommodate the censors for my center dash oil pressure and temp. gauges and about two weeks ago the FB got T-boned, so there goes my daily:/ (still fighting with insurance over value). But anyway, right now my main goal is to get the car back together and on the ground so I can move the car as I am moving, once at my new place i'll delve into replacing all of the interior wiring and should be ready to get to mazda to reset the security and ecu and the car will finally be done

Few more updates

So the car is now 90ish% finished as far as the drivetrain and subframes go (just missing one bolt for one of the rear arms before i'll be able to drop the car back on the ground and then interior rewiring can begin. I've also decided to use Racing beat front and rear end links instead of stock links and i've also acquired a used BHR resonated midpipe to go with the racing beat REV8 catback (would've gone for the RB midpipe, but i'd rather have the BHR's swirlies than RB's SS wool anyway lol).

*Also one thing that I wanted to re-confirm is that this swap is indeed a 100% drop in and bolt on swap. I haven't really needed to modify or fabricate anything at all to do what iv'e done so far and the wiring layout oin both the S1 and S2 are the same, just the wiring itself is different. The only actual hard part of this swap is the wiring swap. The drivetrain swap wasn't exactly hard at all, but for me it was because the car has been on jackstands in my garage and the R3 tear down was done outside my garage on cinder blocks, so if you have a shop or personal garage with a lift, all you really need to do is unbolt the front and rear subframe to lift the boddy off of the fully assembled drivetrain and drop the S1 body onto it and you'll have what my car is right now (aside from the engine bay wiring which is already done).

Finally back on the ground and the physical part of the S2 swap is now done, now all that's left is rewiring the interior and it will be a complete S2

Update

So the handle on the dipstick broke off so I needed a replacement, however, I couldn't find any replacements that were reasonably priced so I ordered one of those little rotor shaped handles for the S1 dipstick and did some custom fitting grinding down the plastic, adding the head off an old burned out dremel and then fiberglassing a nail into it, cut the nail and then put the rotor handle on and it came out great:D

I also installed the RX-7 FB SS clutch hoses I ordered from mazdatrix that i'm using as brake line extensions to bridge the S1 rear brake lines to the S2 ABS

Mounted the spoiler to my brand new seibon trunk and it looks great (only non-OEM mazdaspeed thing on the whole car btw) and finally started on some of the interior wiring and removed the dash just to get it out of the way. So far only one door is re-wired with S2 wiring, now just have to do the rest of the car and i'll be good lol

Good stuff so far, been following for a while, just watched the video! Waiting for you to actually turn it over! Also, the spoiler, how is the fitment and what brand was it? Been thinking about getting a MS replica but from all the horror stories, probably just going for the APR GTC200 lol.

The fitment isn't bad at all, but I do believe that I got lucky on fitment. I'd give it a 9.5/10 on the fitment of the base panel only because it's not 100% seemless, but nothing you'd actually notice just looking at it, but then again the seibon trunk isn't OEM either, so might actually be 10/10 on an OEM trunk. The brand is also duraflex. But if I could go back i'd probably just track down an OEM mazdaspeed spoiler off japanese yahoo auctions or something. The thing I like the least about the spoiler is the FRP brackets. I'm more than likely just going to end up buying a used OEM MS spoiler just to use the brackets from it just because I don't trust the FRP brackets like I would metal ones. Duraflex does have metal brackets too, but the moldings are poorly done and it's just alot of work to get them to look good like the OEM ones.

And also same here, it's been about two years since I last drove the car and i'm very excited to start it for the first time with a completely new(ish) power/drivetrain.

All of the S1 HVAC **** is now out and looks like they are different. I'm not exactly sure how they're different as they're exactly the same physically, but the part numbers are different so going to swap those in soon. Also pulled the S2 interior wiring out to untangle it and I forgot how much **** was on it, so i'm not looking forward to doing it at all lol, but this is the last big step to completing this swap, so it needs to be done and then all that's left is butting things up here and there and then off to mazda it will go to have the IDS system reset and unlocked and should be able to fire it up

*And yes, of course i'll do a first start up video as well

No not yet, i've been very busy for the last month and haven't really had any time to do anything on the car. I do very much want to finish this car asap though because then I can start my other build I have planned when it's finished.

SA22c Renesis rotating assembly killer bee swap - RX7Club.com (BTW this is what i'm dailying now until the 8 is done)

Well it took me long enough, but the car is finally moved to my new apartment, the only thing that sucks about it is that I only have one garage so the 7 will have to live outside for the time being:/ But anyway, now that the car is here I can get back to actually working on and "finishing" this damn thing!

I have drill this weekend so i wont really be doing anything until next weekend which my main focus will be on stripping the interior down and replacing with and laying down the S2 wiring and possibly get to troubleshooting the security system (going to try that before looking towards an S2 partout for the blackboxes and ECU). So far i've only cut out the under dash wiring (decided to cut it just to get it out of the way sooner) and i've also decided to remove everything A/C related (A/C compressor, condenser, A/C lines and under dash condenser and A/C lines). My daily RX-7 doesn't have any A/C stuff and neither did my last RX-7 both of which I drove during the summer and it was just fine, so that's why I decided to go the same route on the 8 as it's just dead weight is all.
