Yeah, air conditioning, power steering of course, and I guess that's it. Not sure about the traction control-I mean the dsc(I believe) which works the brakes to keep the car from sliding out will still work, but not the throttle adjustment_obviously-no more fly-by-wire. All the gauges stay in and work and I guess that's basically it.

Just a couple pics, first pics is of the exhaust sleeves-the stock ones are horrible, and the second of just engine. Just a warning to everyone, such a beautiful manifold-too bad I'm gonna have to chop it down, it sits too high. The fourth picture is of the S4 front plate with a mechanical omp-I hate premixing at the gas station.

13B-RESI = Rotary Engine Super Induction
HB Cosmo (84-85) + FB RX-7 (84-85)
13B-TII = Twin scroll turbocharger
HC Luce (86-91) + FC RX-7 (86-91)
13B-REW = Rotary Engine (W)Double turbocharger
JC Cosmo (90-95) + FD RX-7 (92-02)
Marketing name = Twin turbo rotary
13B-MSP = Multi Side Port
FE RX-8 (03-08)
Marketing name = Renesis
Its common for the uneducated to get the Cosmo 13B-REW name wrong. Hopefully this helps a few of you guys to get it right. Another amusing example is everyone using the official 13B-REW name for the FD engine then the marketing name for the FE engine.........

While it is true that mazda did add the "W" for twin turbo, and the cosmo engine is a twin turbo with hitachi 10's, the official engine code for that particular engine is in fact 13BRE, so don't be calling people uneducated and it's common for them people to get it wrong-it's NOT wrong! See the nice picture of the manifold?

Ok, I wont make you look stupid during this lesson but will just help you understand a little history.
There is NO Mazda documentation that states the 13B-REW engine from the JC Cosmo is called a 13B-RE. It was a term invented by Americans because they didn't know any better. If some one can show documentation from Mazda contradicting their own terminology I would love to see it.
I have documentation such as press releases, history books, sales brochures & other documentation all stating the correct 13B-REW terminology. For Mazda & the Japanese, this question is not an issue. They get it right straight away. Anyway, as detailed below from a page in the JC Cosmo sales brochure I scanned you will find the text mentioning the "other available engine option" Its just under the paragraph talking about the 20B-REW. Yes, thats right. Its the 13B-REW.
If you went from the name on the manifold, then that changes the 20B-REW name to 3 ROTOR doesn't it..........
Apologies for the pic size. Required to make the text readable.

The 3rd gen block and the Cosmo block are infact different engines even though they share in some similarities. Even with the differing intake manifolds, the engines themselves are different: FC style gears, 67psi oil pressure regulator, exhaust diffuser sleeves as dznutsuk pointed out, S5-style rotor housings, and different front cover than the 3rd gen block. However, they share the same thrust assembly, rotors, etc. The irons are also different; the intake port runners are taller and positioned slightly higher on the Cosmo block over the 3rd gen. In our local racing community, the Cosmo block is considered the better of the two although I don't share that opinion.

Because I can be a cheap bastard sometimes, I decided to make my own pulley idler from a stock alternator pulley, I think it came out pretty good.

Well, when you remove the airpump, you usually get a greddy or unorthodox elimination kit, but the problem is that there isn't enough contact on the stock waterpump so it slips alot. This way it has full contact and I can use the stock pulleys but not the stock belt.

Yeah but the water pump slippage will always be there at high rpm's. Pineapple racing sells a kit which is the same thing, and explains what's it's for

maybe they ran out of space on the manifold to put the W on production of the manifolds then said "oh FCK, well too bad we already produced them so might as well ship them out its 3 rotor, they'll buy it!"

The only thing the REW has on the RE from the factory is horsepower/torque. That is all due to the turbos being used on the two different setups, though.

DMRH, I cannot read japanese, and the possibility that a brochure that is entirely in Japanese mistypes and adds a single letter to that is very likely. That is the only place I see it at as well. How many people truly look at sales brochures anyway?
Either way, if they were going to use the true name printed on the top of the engine, why wouldn't they just simply add another letter if it was truly an REW? Does it make sense that Mazda would go out of their way to write something like 13B-RE on all those engines for no reason whatsoever? I mean, if it truly is an REW, why would they list the wrong engine ON THE ENGINE?!?!?
The chance of them misprinting the engine title on top of the engine is a lot less likely than misprinting the wrong engine title in the corner of a picture of a brochure.

Well after a very very very big delay, I'm finally back on track with the swap here are the latest pictures, I plan on starting it up on Friday before I take out the old engine. It would be such a big disappointment after I put it in that something's not right! I'll post up pictures a little later on, they're too big and I have to shrink them first.
