who initiates tags?
Yea... I bought on Labor day and still have dealer tags. I assumed (though my 1st new car) that the dealer interacts w/DMV and that they, the dealer, would send me tags in the mail.
Is that how it goes?
Thank You,
Kawika

if you bought the car new, the dealer should have done everything for you, and if you bought it used, then it depends who/where you bought it from.
and september? wow. if you did buy it from a dealer, they are worse than the dealer i bought my car from. and you should call your dealer right away. i don't know if its the same everywhere, but in georgia, dealer temp tags are only valid for 30 days.
now my dealer tag experience.
bought the car on march 26th. temp tag1 expired on april 26th. was lazy and waited until may 2nd before going to the county to get my extension temp tag, which was good until june 2nd.
may 10th comes and goes, still no tag, so i called the dealer and the person there told me that it should definately be there by june 2nd, but if its not to call back on the 31st.
call back on the 31st, the bish is on vacation! and her fill in will be there the following day. so i leave my name and number for her to call back. the next day comes and goes, no call. so on the 2nd, i call back and the fill in is at lunch. so i leave a message with the receptionist that i need to talk to someone that day since my tag is expiring.
end up talking to the office manager, and supposedly get everything worked out, and get another extension tag, this one good until jun 15th.
now, its jun 13th, and i still don't have my tag. so if it doesn't come in today's mail, i'm going to have to call them back, yet again.

I actually got plates when I bought mine. I was really shocked when the pulled out regular plates instead of the temporary paper tags like most new cars have.
