Sticker was 34,000

Loan is 504.00 x 84 months at an interest rate 5.95% 7k down. Insurance is 497 for 6 months. Full coverage including glass.

Double payments each month helps alot, thats why the long loan terms.

It is a little ambiguous - it could mean

That he is paying $500 per month, for 6 months, and that covers 7 years - which is a GREAT deal!

Mugatu,
How much you paying for your Shinka?

I'm paying $588/month for 72 months. No down payment. No trade in. Insurance (full-coverage) is $173/month for two cars here in SoCal.

I pay a $420/month lease for 48 months, with zero down. that was for a sticker of $31,100. i pay $100/month for insurance.

you people paying more than that AFTER putting down a sizeable down payment, AND paying that for more than 4-5 years are INSANE.

That's $20K for a car you can't keep or sell at the end of four years. I know $42K is a lot, but that's what I have to deal with.. because I didn't trade-in or down pay. I get to keep the car though.

yeah but after 4 years i get to get another car with a warranty. i didn't really feel comfortable owning the first year RX8, so I chose to lease and give it back right when the warranty is up.

believe me, i am all for owning a car versus buying it, but $42k seems like a hell of a lot to be paying for a Mazda RX8. A LOT.

what % rate did you get?

Another example of why leasing is not always bad:
One option would have been to lease for 48 months ($400/month, $19,200 total), and take the extra $188/month and save it ($9024). Use it to put toward the $14,000 residual at the end of the lease. Balance owed would then be around $5000. You could either pay this off, re-lease, or take out a loan. A loan, even at 10% (since it's aused car) for the $5000 balance, would be $440/month for a year.

The total cost for the car would be $33,500 (the numbers I used were those for my lease, 4 years, GT with options, and nothing down). Even if I am off by $2000 in this case, the total is still at least $6000 less, and the car is paid off in five years instead of six.

I wanted it, so I signed for 5% interest, 0 down, no trade-in. Soon, I'll put at least $8,000 down when I refinance. That should drop the interest rate down as well the total months to pay. In the end it should drop my interest paid overall by $7K.

Nothing. The Shinka is paid off from day one (insurance money after totaling my 911 - even kept some K's on the bank). The insurance after the solo accident adjustment (totaled a 98k car) is $389 for 8 months including 3 cars and the house.

$419 x 48 month lease (might be 42 can't remember off hand).. MT Touring package
Insurance is through progressive at: $647 / 6mo .

I took the lease option most because I was not sure if I wanted this car after 4 years (track record on engine issues wasn't that great at the time... still not perfect hehe)

Also the fact that I hadn't a car payment in about 8 years (my old 93 Eagle was 12 years old :P) I couldn't afford much on my budget.

$457/month for 36 Month Lease w/$1600 Down. Insurance @$57/month ^_^ This with an RX-8 GT, full front clear bra, door edge guard, tint, 6-CD system, rotary accents, polished exhaust for $33,000. Had a trade-in @$2200. I plan to do a loan after this to pay off the residual value..maybe another 3 yrs. loan or 4..depends..I'll use the money on something else..like stocks, instead of throwing all of the $$ to lower the payment. Unless the car gives me problem within the 3 yrs..I'll keep her
