What should i do?

I just got an email from a local dealer (im on their internet sales email list) and they told me that all of their 04 rx8's that they have are selling for invoice price, no negotiations necessary. I originally planning on getting an 05 model around december. Do you think i should wait until then and risk not being able to get it for invoice, or act on this current deal? I also have the $250 rev it up coupon which would expire by december. I cant decide...... any advice?

Buy now, at invoice. The 05 model will not be noticeably different IMHO.

Part of the reason I'm waiting for the 05 model is to make sure most of the problems are resolved. However, from what I've read from numerous threads, if the vin# ends higher than 30000 then most of the problems should fixed. I've been told that first year models are risky, and I have read about a few problems with A/C, lower than normal gas mileage, needing L and M flashes, and all sorts of things, but if finances is not a problem and you can get one with very low mileage and a very high vin number, then I say GO FOR IT!!!!

I would also say go for it. (I did.) I don't know if this is true or not, the dealer I talked to said the '05 might go up slightly in price as well... but even if it doesn't, I'd bet you won't get an '05 for invoice until this time next year.

I would do it if the Vin number was over 30000. you might want to go to mazda.com and see how many are in your area for sale. If there are a lot you might get a 04 for less after september. Also the vin numbers of each car are on this web site.Good luck.

Any car you buy now should have the flash updates before it's sold, per Mazda's instructions. As for mileage, it's going to be hit or miss on that. I've got one of the first (picked up August 8 last year, Vin is 6XXX something) and I consistently get over 20mpg, in city and highway. A/C- I agree that might be a little stronger in newer vins- I'm still arguing with my dealer to fix my A/C cycling.

I called a few dealers and also looked online. It seems as if the invoice price deal is possible from almost all dealers. Now the problem is, finding the car. So far, I found 2 winning blue rx8's that i like, but they both have their vin#s under 30000. Any advice? If i were to wait until december for an 05, how much more would i be paying? Anything close to invoice? Help is appreciated....

How far below? The vin issue is IMO. if they where say 23000 up and the dealer was aware of your flash and AC concerns ( just tell them both have to be done). The price was right i still would. Because of your color choice ( which is my third choice) they are harder to find.

The vin#s are 19264 and 20160 (theres two cars). What do you guys think? What should i ask if i were to mention recalls and things like that?

Does anyone think it would be possible to get a 05 rx8 in dec. for at invoice?

Thanks....

I doubt you will get a blue one in Dec.. If there is a 04 there it should be no higher than invoice, if not lower ,i would think. There vins are so close , i would go with the one with the lowest miles and have them check for the M flash update . If its invoice are below i would get it. You might want to search under VIN . There are a few threads that talk about the number ranges of the vins and the way they are handling. My AC is great.I can feel the cyling issue but, i believe its the way its programed and i have no problem with it . Other than that ,all the old problems are fixed at this stage. I have enjoyed this car for 6 weeks now and i am very happy with my purchase.Good luck on your choice.

I want to add the two 04 blue ones are the last 04 blue your dealers will get.( i believe the last of the 04 are here)Thats why i got yellow( also because it was being replaced with white). My yellow was the last one within a 100 miles and a dealer is going to give you a better deal on one he owns already.

I think he got the years messed up.

So does anyone know how much an 05 rx8 around december will cost? Do you think i can get it at invoice? If so, the only thing im missing out on by not buying now is the $250 rev it up coupon.

Thanks.....

The only compelling reasons for waiting for an '05 to me would be:
a) gotta have the pearlescent white
b) gotta refer to your new car as "an '05".
c) gotta hole being burned in your pocket by the extra money it will cost over the deal you're being offered now.

From what everyone's saying, no significant changes in the '05 model year, and time's a wastin'! Get behind the wheel, bro!

I would say buy now. I bought my 8 last month and I haven't had any problem with it. I get around 20 - 21 mpg and the AC is so cold that sometimes I have to turn it off.

Hey wokuku, what's your vin number?
