Warranty and Purchase Questions

I'm am looking to purchase a used RX-8. I've found a couple '05s that will still be in warranty. I found an interesting one where the car was delivered in August '05 but wasn't actually registered to a private owner until March '06. When it was first registered it had 6k miles on it.

My thoughts are that this RX-8 was used by Mazda or the dealership for awhile and then sold. I know the warranty will only go until 50,000 miles but will it cover from the August time period it was delivered or from March when the first owner actually bought it? Also do you believe that the 1st 6,000 miles under use from Mazda was good for it or detrimental to the car? Is there a different scenario than the one I theorize that may account for the 6,000 miles before it was first registered? Should I just give Mazda USA a call and ask? Will they give me this kind of information w/out owning the car?

Get the Vin number and give it to a Mazda Service rep and ask for the in-service date.

It was almost certainly a dealer demo. Probably not likely to have paid close attention ot the oil levels, and fairly likely abused, but 6k miles isn't much time to do damage, and the car has 100k engine warranty anyways.
